In the bible there are references to a beast who appears from nowhere, is a great speaker and people love him, promises peace but it a deceiver. He starts out making peace with all nations then after a while become so powerful that no nation can make war with him. Not sure if that's from revelations or Daniel, they tell a similar story.

The US because a military power out of necessity. We and our allies were attacked by aggressors like Japan and Germany and had to fight or die.
We fought, we geared up our military machine for the sake of survival. We became a superpower out of necessity, not desire.
Later we fought against the soviets and Chinese who threatened our way of life, our system of government, our values. We fought against the soviets and Chinese in places like Vietnam, Korea, etc. Places you mention but gloss over the reason and cause. You make it sound lie we attacked Vietnam, Korea, and Iraq because we just felt like being an aggressor. Wrong. We went to Vietnam and Korea to support a free government that was threatened by a communist insurgency, a coup. We fought to protect. We were successful in South Korea, we failed in Vietnam. We didn't lose the war to the communists over there, we lost to the bleeding heart liberals and communists over here. We were fighting the wrong enemy. We still are and they are getting more powerful and dangerous ref. Obama).

hmm... we did evacuate vietnam hanging onto the runners of helicopters. the communists got about half of korea. our soldiers are being killed in iraq by bombs made with aluminum cans and shape charges fired from pipes and detonated with cell phones. what part of our leaving vietnam wasn't about us with our tails between our legs? every military debacle we get involved in is compared to our efforts in vietnam.

i totally agree that the vietnam war was lost by our media. completely. i do, however, disagree that we had it won. the chinese were sending men and materials, nearly an endless supply, to support vietnam.
