YES-that's the only time my wife stops talking, when she tries to work the puzzle.

The only redeeming feature of the NYT, IMHO. The Puzzle accompanies my late morning executive washroom visit.

I got into the cryptic puzzles when living in RSA... I enjoy them, but find they're either too "easy" or ridiculously esoteric. It's hard to find good ones that are pitched to the "right" level and are not so Anglo-skewed as to be prohibitively obscure to your average American.
