Yup. And if you feel guilt, then you have remorse, and if you have remorse then you know the difference between right and wrong. And if you know that, chances are you have a soul. Cheers. |

Completely, totally impossible. |

We are not even capable of grasping just how utterly insignificant we really are. Even the entire history of humanity, even should it survive for another billion years will be a totally insignificant non-event in the history of the universe. We truly do not matter at all on a cosmic scale. Trekkor's delusions of grandeur notwithstanding. |
I have no delusions.
KT |
Everyone of us could die tommorow, all of us, and in the grand scheme of things it wouldn't matter not one whit or iota.
What the hell does the universe care? It doesn't. |
I'm sorry you have such a bleak outlook for the future.
No matter what you think of the 'rest of the universe'. We matter. KT |
I see the insignificant have spoken.
|
We matter to those who know us and are affected by us. Otherwise... pretty egotistical to think us humans, being as physically and mentally challenged as we all demonstrate, are all that and a bag of chips measured against the universe...

Or fast forward a few thousand billion more years as the entire universe collapses back in on itself and all life EVERYWHERE is totally annihilated in the creation of a new singularity. Or even worse, if the universe endlessly expands until the stars all blink out, one by one, leaving a massive dark empty expanse of lifeless nothing. Our future is 1000000000000x more "bleak" than most care to realize. All life in this universe is going to die, we are all doomed, nothing we do will ever change that fact. Our own doom is simply inescapable. It is therefore impossible for us to 'matter' in any way. I lead a good life, but it's really because i don't want to go to prison. Not because i care about some afterlife or some fantastical concept such as karma. My morality is an entirely practical consideration. |

I believe i shall. :)

sun expanding? universe collasping? hooey!
KT |
Take it up with Stephen Hawking cuz, i'm only a messenger. ;)
|
So he's got the answers? Yeah... right.
You need to make up your mind. Either someone has the answers or nobody does. KT |

Of course, lots of nefarious things can happen to those photons on their way to fallible human eyes. No one has actually witnessed an individual star's birth and directly observed that same star through its life, all the way to a supernova event, so it must be all guesses. |

I bow in humble unworthiness to the mighty MC Hawking.
That's one smart Edited - language removed, Z-man. |
So it sounds as if you think the 'superminds' cannot get their points accross to the 'lowly common folk'?
And yes, most of what people 'believe' is based on guesses ( presented as fact until a better guess comes along ) Nothing has changed here. KT |

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/7540427.stm Like these people, you are a delusional anomaly in today's world. It actually pains me to be harsh as I am sure that you are a good person, but you need an intervention. Seriously. |

Seems that he's as much of a false prophet as anyone else, and probably not deserving of your unusual adoration. |

Not worth my time, sir. You don't know me ( 1 ) You put faith in man ( 2 ) Man's record always ends in failure ( 3 ) Intervention? More silly talk. :D |

May I also add, regarding knowledge of the universe, life, meaning of life, purpose for the earth and mankind, you have taken a position that I must be wrong. However, I do not see you presenting any alternatives except 'We don't know', 'We can't know', 'We're insignificant in the universe', etc... Or.. Sun goes out, blows up, universe collaspes... Yes, you don't believe a creator exists. I get that. Belief in Almighty Jehovah does not equal delusion. KT |
