Pelosi doesn't use foil.

trust me, i'm ok with that

U don't do well with abstract thinking, nor the effect of subtlety. Think of it as dropping a small ball bearing into the workings of a machine and the effects it can have. Sometimes unnoticable...for awhile. Or the effect of water eroding an object over time.

Neither do I, but I am also not stuck with the religious dogma of the Middle Ages.

Who is the target audience for this, specifically what subset of that audience? What word in the piece acts as a "mind bomb." and why? What is the intended affect on the targeted audience?

BeyGon 08-04-2008 02:23 PM

After all Ms Pelosi understands one thing that Mr Obama does not, and that it is all about MONEY and not values........

I think Obama understands it's about money and you don't need values.

Chain? what, maybe %95 percent of black voters are already voting for him, they don't need that subliminal message.

Let me spell it out...

Liberal Dems are the target audience, the subset are Obama supporters and an even smaller sub set African Americans. The word "chain" is pejorative, as in to control, or tie something to...It is a bomb because the desired effect of its usage is to portray one faction of the Democratic party as being status quo, not progressive to another more change orientated faction. The word drives a wedge of divisiveness between the 2 parties.

U might say the message is subliminal in its effect. ..

The idea with the usage of the word "chain" is to push the Obama supporters even farther into their uncompromising postions. Jamie Dimon would not have said Obama and crew are "Crazy" if Obama knew it was all about money.

Let me put it into computer terms.

There are people who can run the operating system by typing or clicking commands, then their are those that can write the computer programs that run the operating system and then ther is the basic funciton of the computer itself the ones's and zeros's. I tend to think in 0nes and zeros.

I'll tell you what. This is a hell of a lot better than Island's "Who's The Better Negotiator - McCain or Obama" thread. With this one, you need to at least break down intent and verbiage:

O.K. - "chained" is the operative word. And knowing the Dem thought, they are more so "chained" to Obama and the Dem cause more than any time I've seen.

1) More so than Carter - I remember Dems hating him, particularly after Iran took Americans hostage and Carter could/would do nothing about it.
2) Dukakis - a joke and completely inappropriate for the times.
3) Gore - let's face it, he's sort of a whack job.
4) Kerry - the train travels a 1/4-mile and flies off the track. Some Dems wanted to vote for Bush in spite of Kerry.

Now, the *****'s hit the fan for Democrats. Bush has caused so much chaos in the last 8 yrs., that Obama and his so-called ultra-liberal view has become the natural reaction. "Chained." Yep, it's the Democrats who are "chained" to Obama as they can't bring themselves to the thought of voting for McCain. It's sad, but Democrats are, at this point, pawns in the election.

Then how do you account for the 60%/40% for Hillary in WV, KY & ND EVEN AFTER EVERYONE KNEW SHE WAS DOWN FOR THE COUNT? How do you account for the the big Dem benafactors like J Dimon thinking Obama is "CRAZY." Pelosi is trying to get those disaffected DEms back on Board an Obama ship with a conservative VP candidate. However to put a conservative on the ticket is to "CHAIN" Obama to the status quo, which makes him acceptable to those voters. Ouiet a dillemma in the party.

tabs 08-04-2008 03:20 PM

This nomination of a Obama VP will be very telling. It is his first real test as an executive decison maker. Will he go for expediency and the same old same old. Or will he be an agent of change. Which direction will he take the party...

I don't know. Are you now talking politics or the plot of "Mandingo?"

tabs 08-04-2008 03:27 PM

If Barrack picks first time around VA Govenator Tim Kaine.....then it will be LIberal and Carter X's 2. Obama thinks that as VA Govenator he can appeal to the Regan Dems, while the guy is a Leftist Pinko Harvard Rat just like Obama is at heart. U just have to listen to the guy....his wifes father was govenator of VA once upon a time....do ya think there was some political organization and benefactors there, that were served on a plate to him so he could get elected.

dd74 08-04-2008 03:29 PM

Might be Biden. Because he's old and white.

bell 08-04-2008 03:30 PM

we could always wrap them all up in tin foil :D

Somebody has to be wrong here....the Daleys or Obama and the Kennedy Liberal Idealists...who is going to wind up controling who? The Daleys are all about power and money. Obama is about power and socialism. You might say that the Daleys provide the muscle, Kennedy the muscle and idealism and Obama is just a flake.

I have to think about Biden...Obama might be a pawn in his hands...another distracting influece for President Obama's mind. Don't want too many power players close to the king?

tabs 08-04-2008 03:37 PM

However "FLAKES" some times fool ya and have minds and agendas of their own, and once given the reigns of power can run amok.....remember Hitler?

Yes, but experience can trump verbosity, popularity, whimsical desires for a nation, etc.
