U can have all the HP under the hood in the world and still be an ignorant git. It takes work and time to be able to apply that HP. So lets see how good you Boyz really are. Lets see how aware you Boyz are?

The following is a piece that I posted on another Board.

Who is the target audience for this, specifically what subset of that audience? What word in the piece acts as a "mind bomb." and why? What is the intended affect on the targeted audience?

Ms Nancy Pelosi wants to chain Obama to the status quo by having a Conservative Democrat on the ticket. Ms Pelosi's one attribute is that she is an excellent fund raiser for the party. Those donors are not happy with the way things are going and are expressing their opinion with their checkbooks. Mr Kaine on the other hand represents a way too Liberal point of view to satisify those donors. After all Ms Pelosi understands one thing that Mr Obama does not, and that it is all about MONEY and not values........

I think the operative word here is "chain". With all the negative racial connotations that go along with it. I think Nancy Pelosi fancies herself as the leader of the Democratic party right now - having dispatched the Clintons with relative ease. She wants Bam Bam chained up/controlled.

I'm not sure who your target audience is with this qoute, Tabs, but I think what you're getting at is Pelosi wants puppet representation in the white house with a liberal and "conservative" as POTUS and VP where she calls the shots and controls the money and subsequently the agenda.

U should read your own reference, "over half are under $200 donors." Nancy has been talking to the big boy donors and supporters of the Party. Obama can ignore them with all his smal donors.

However Moses you are AVOIDING the stated intent of this Thread. Read thorugh it and give an opinion.

Your absolutely on the right track with "control" and the "racial connotation"...not so much the puppet representation though! She wants a Conservative to act as a counter weight to the Liberal agenda of change. To nullify getting too crazy with the change stuff, which scares not only the fat kat Dems but the Regan Dems as well. However she is thinking about all those Regan Dems in PA, WVA, KY, OH, IN, MO, MI, FL and TX that simply don't like Obama. Obama needs them to get elected, for even if 25% of them go over to McCAin, Obama is history.

Think who is the Target audience and what does the word "chain" do to their thinking.

The inclusion of the word is insidious, and is not designed to incite emotion against the author. I think your getting colder with the Grievance and race baiters. Use of the word is designed to creat division within the targeted audience.

Ahhh you on to it...Yes Pelosi is thinking about the White Conservative Dems, but that is not the target audience.

Okay - I'll play nice. There are two target groups. Conservatives and Liberals. Pelosi is serving notice to the Conservatives that the Dems will be a strong adversary on the account of both liberals and Reagan Dems uniting for the same purpose, and she intends to see this through by bringing a bit of reality to Obama about the importance of Southern White Dems. Two, Pelosi is serving notice to liberals that they're going to have to share the glory with Dems less liberal and less racially allowing than they. And that there's no winning without these individuals.

Pelosi may also be laying groundwork for the time when she runs for President. I rue that day.

Your still thinking too superficially, take it down a step....and think about it as a portrayal of one faction to another. Your also looking for the word DIVISIVE...it is to creat division within the targeted audience by portraying one faction as being status quo orientated.

Your almost on top of it....The target audience are Liberal Democrats and the sub set are the Obama Supporters and if broken down once again African Americans...but that is minor to the meaning.

Obama is about change and to "chain" means to tie someone to something, thus an element of control in this case to limit Obamas agenda of change. Pelosi knows that to win Obama needs the Conservative Dems, also the big donors like Jamie Dimon of Morgan Stanley think Obama is crazy. The wedge is portraying the Pelosi faction as being members of the sam old same old club which is anthma to Obamas base.
