French swimmer should have kept mouth shut!!

All they did was throw fuel on the fire!

Go USA!!! Maybe France can win in tetherball!

http://sports.aol.com/olympics/story/_a/bbdp/relay-stunner-keeps-phelps-dream-alive/126914

BEIJING (Aug. 10) - With history about to slip away and Michael Phelps cheering him on, Jason Lezak pulled up next to the lane rope and set out after hulking Alain Bernard, like a NASCAR driver drafting down the backstretch at Daytona.
Only 25 meters to go, half the length of the pool. Every stroke brought Lezak a little closer, a little closer, a little closer, his body seemingly carried along by the Frenchman's massive wake. The two lunged for the wall together. When the result flashed on the board, Phelps was still on course for his record eight gold medals.

Holy cow - 30 minutes plus over 3rd place? Those guys FLEW! Plus they rode "Powerline"... The interview was pretty funny, Wiens said 'yeah, that was Lance's idea!'

Abolutely incredible ride. I'm heading out the door right now for ride myself - now I'm MOTIVATED!

This is what the games are all about. Fantastic W/R personal effort for the team gold.

"And by the time Lezak -- nine years Phelps' senior -- jumped into the pool, Bernard was already in there and already sprinting off toward history. Except Lezak covered the final hundred meters in 46.06, which is nearly a second and a half faster than the existing world record."

French toast taken rectally!!

"A fingertip did the victory," said Amaury Leveaux, one of the French swimmers. "It is nothing."

Stay classy, frogs. Stay classy.

Truthishly, you'd think they'd be better at losing, having had so much experience at it in recent years. Decades. Ahem, centuries.

It's "nothing" that our anchorman made up more than a body against their best swimmer (and w/r holder?). No, shytbag, "IT" is something. You're "Nothing". Stay classy.

Maybe you guy wouldn't be so tough on the French if you saw their very sincere, post race, pre-podium pout. ...BWAhahahaha --Geez these frogs deserved that.

I watched the race last night; damn that was good.

Awesome race!! Phelps is on track to total pwnage.

I really dig the time zones for the games since it's my prime time. Go Go Good Team!

IMO, Jason Lezak is the hero here. Everyone talks about Phelps, but sheesh Lezak was they guy who cased down, pulled up next to, and last second punched past the French. (who were swimming a world record time.)

No doubt about Lezak being the hero but that's why he swam the last leg, they knew he could get the job done. If Phelps had been the last leg everyone would have said he was the hero, regardless, I think the results would have been the same. It's history now and I hope Phelps gets the eight gold.

It's a great example of what the phrase "team effort" really means.

Yep.

Phelps owest Lezak bigtime. Especially if he goes on to break Spitz's record. Phelps raced well and certainly pulled his weight, but Lezak really won that race.

The French started something they couldn't finish.
