Republican Veep - thoughts?
Seems to me that the two leading contenders for Veep are Pawlenty from Minnesota and Jindal from Louisiana. I was on vacation in Minnesota a few weeks ago, and read a lot about Pawlenty in the paper. I like him.
Didn't know much about Jindal, but I saw him on TV yesterday, and I am very impressed by him as well. There is an outside chance that Sarah Palin from Alaska might be Veep. Frankly, I like all three of them, and I think and of the three would help McCain.

I like Jindal, but he needs to successfully clean up Louisiana before he's ready for the national stage, IMO. I hope to God he is successful, though.

That's the smartest choice no one is talking about. Coburn is such a taxpayer hero and he relishes being disliked by other senators for holding up their porkbarrel votes. Gawd, I might even stop being a complete cynic if Coburn was it. I might not have to hold my nose while voting for McCain if Coburn were on the ticket. But my gut says Coburn won't be asked and wouldn't accept if he were. He sure would do wonders for conservative turn out though.

????? No way, Obama's ready to go after 145 days in the Senate. Jindal would be a crusty veteran by the time he took office.

IIRC, Jindal said no way to the Veep job a week or so ago.

Pawlenty is a nice enough guy, but he couldn't sell pussy in a logging camp. Kind of like Al Gore.

I am laughing as I read this. Most people here don't much care for Pawlenty.
In fact if "the body" comes back, Pawlenty might be out lolz |

Pawlenty got his start working for disgraced former U.S. senator David Durenburger, the guy that I bought my first Porsche from.

Jindal's not ready in any way, shape or form. We had to threaten to march on the Capital to finally get him to veto a stupid pay raise the legislature had voted in. He promised while running for office he would veto any such bill....Well, he went against his word at first, turning a blind eye to the leges who were leading him around like a puppy. It finally took the PEOPLE to put forth enough pressure to get him to "change his mind". If you want to dig a bit deeper, go to http://forgotston.com/ and dig around the past few months.
Jindal is basically a good guy, just young & inexperienced. He is not the "new look of the republican party" as Limbaugh put it.

McCain has to pick a Midwestern governor. I'll expand the Midwest to include PA. Ridge would be almost perfect but he's pro-choice. I don't know if McCain can do that. Pawlenty looks good on paper and is a good friend of McCain's, but it's hard to see what he brings to the ticket. Pawlenty isn't loved, but he beat Mike Hatch, who is loved, in '06 in a blood-bath of a year for Republicans. Still, Minnesota is deep blue and will go for Obama by 20 points regardless of who the VP is and Pawlenty hasn't really rissen to the occassion.
None of the candidates mentioned have all the qualities necessary, but he has to pick someone. If he picks someone on the list, I think it will be Pawlenty, just because McCain likes him personally. Otherwise I think it will be someone who hasn't been mentioned yet.

He needs a female Veep to grab the femi-nazi voters. They don't want Obama because he beat their *****. IMO, of course.

I did actually think that Chuck Hagel would have been on the list this year.

What if he really thinks outside the box and picks some left-handed lesbian in a wheelchair wearing a Che Guavara t-shirt?
You know, "I'm probably going to lose anyways, so lets try to grab some votes from the far left"? ![]()

I think the idea of a Woman would be a good idea. Kay Bailey Hutchinson would be good. I like Palin, but she is probably too young. She is also very cute, and would probably make McCain look even older. Whoever is the choice, needs to be prepared to take over. McCain may only do one term.

That might be the last straw that makes me stay home or write in Ron Paul. I'll have a hard enough time voting for McCain. Hagel would be impossible.
