Arafat actually saved many thousands of lives and reduced violence in the middle east quite a bit. he did all that by eventually STOPPING the terrorist bombings and attacks that he ordered. He could have done the same thing by committing suicide. Wishful thinking.

I love it. That's pretty much the same reason I'm sure Kim Jong-Il will get the prize soon. Create a problem, be a real bad guy and then get rewarded for behaving like you're supposed to in the first place.

Ooooh, now we're back into "big thinking" mode again, 'cause we wouldn't touch the blatent racism issue. Good.

The Nobel prize is all about long-term contributions to humanity, regardless of political or ideological affiliation. Save the heart-string drama stories for the next novel. There were a lot of unrecognized heros during those times.

1) Hugo Chavez (for bringing "economic justice" to Venezuela, as well as donating heating oil to needy Americans)

2) Vladimir Putin (for ending the war in Georgia and deterring agression by Poland, Ukraine and Czech Republic)

3) Kim Jong-Il (for his tireless work in making a nuclear-free Korean peninsula)

Sound far-fetched? Watch.

what about that Iranian guy - imadinnerjacket, or however it's spelled
