The lady that should have won!
There recently was a death of a 98 year old lady named Irena.
During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an ulterior motive... She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German). Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of her tool box she carried, and she carried in the back of her truck a Burlap sack, (for larger kids). She also had a dog in the back, that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in, and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog, and the barking covered the kids/infants noises. During her time and course of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, and arms, and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out, and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it, and reunited the family. Most of course had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes, or adopted. Last year Irena was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize.... She LOST. Al Gore won, for doing a slide show on Global Warming! |
OK I'll give you that one.
|
Assuming this is true, wow. I mean, I knew Al Gore didn't deserve anything, but wow. This si who he beat?
Whatever- if there is an afterlife he'll be her ottoman. |
What's her full name? I'd like to do some research on her. I haven't heard this story before and I'm quite fascinated.
Thanks in advance, Michael |

Snopes is a good place to start. http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/sendler.asp.
Wikipedia as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irena_Sendler#Nobel_nominee |
That is absolutely incredible.

No one said life was fair! If this is true I imagine she will get her just reward and so will Al Gore.
Great story! |

So what.
Because Al Gore brought the concept of global warming to the worlds concience, a soot factory wasen't built in Alaska. As a result, the 2,501 eskimo children in the isolated Nanunanu tribe didn't painfully starve to death (trying to eat their rubber Nike boots) waiting for the seals to come back. But then again, there's nothing "different" or "more special" about the Nanunanu children from any others. Don't you agree? Now the head of the FDA, on the other hand, could have prevented 750,000 US deaths last year alone from dangeous, under-tested pharmasutical drugs. |
Al Gore did nothing except propogate lies and false science. he promotes an unproven theory to advance his own political agenda, and liberals back him 100% (ref. above post).
Did his efforts put his life at risk in order to save others? No, he profitted from his efforts and put money in his pocket. There has been no sacrifice on his part, just the opposite. He has thrown the rest of us under the bus to pad his bank account and give him more political power. He deserves no reward, no awards, no credibility and certainly no admiration. Sincerely, Sam Gore |

I'm glad that heroic woman did not win the Nobel Peace Prize. She deserves far better than to be in a fraternity that includes Al Gore, Kofi Anan and Yassir Arafat. The Peace Prize means nothing anymore.
|
don't forget Jimmy Carter in that frat list

I used to have respect for the Nobel Prize, but when they started to give it out to terrorists & for a power point presentation, it lost ANY & ALL respect in my mind.
|
This is something I was unaware of, but now that I know my hatred for Al Gore has grown by a factor of 2501, one for every kid and one for Irena.
Ottoman is to good if you ask me... |
Hey, it's not Gore's fault that the committee chose him for the prize. Honestly. I don't blame Gore. But it's why I view the Nobel Peace Prize as a political popularity contest where foreignors get to vote for people they couldn't elect to office in their own countries.
|
I never knew Arafat won a peace prize. What a joke.

Anyone want to start a pool on who some future laureates will be? My list goes like this:
1) Hugo Chavez (for bringing "economic justice" to Venezuela, as well as donating heating oil to needy Americans) 2) Vladimir Putin (for ending the war in Georgia and deterring agression by Poland, Ukraine and Czech Republic) 3) Kim Jong-Il (for his tireless work in making a nuclear-free Korean peninsula) Sound far-fetched? Watch. |
