what color should i paint my bmx?
today i pulled the bottom bracket off my bmx bike as one of the bearing race is cracked and i need to track down a new one, i got the itch to put my old school gt back together but will save that for another day.
anyway the green has got to go, i have the right tools etc at the shop to strip it to bare metal, prime, and paint it..... going to keep the handle bars and forks black (repaint of course), but need a color.....orange? maybe bright ass red? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1218769756.jpg thanks :) |
is this what we've arrived at? collectively as a group? not so much about bell and his bmx color, but is this what were bringing to the table?:D
keep up the good work, ive got some socks i wonder if you guys think i should use bleach on im going to get a shot of to share with the group.;) T$ |
I'd have the whole thing chromed - like the old school Hutch bikes. I'd also change the seat to one of those really uncomfortable plastic seats they used to come with.

flat black, murder style

man...tough crowd LOL black might work, i was leaning toward red, my old school gt is chromed out already :)

I powdercoated my mountain bike pink and had a local graphics shop make vinyl stickers in the shapes of flaming skulls. It's very very cool.
So how about the flat black with flaming skull stickers? If you don't like the stickers, you can always try something different. But it would look good! angela |
How about black crinkle paint?
|
Just cover it with Hello Kitty stickers. The asian chicks will love it.
|
How about a Gulf Racing theme? Perhaps paint the forks orange and the frame Gulf Blue, or some variation...

Metal flake purple...
Yes I'm serious, hey you asked. :D |
primer grey
|
original brushed aluminum finish...

made some progress today, i decided to go with "copper", although the flat black was going to be it.....
sanded everything down, the frame is aluminum, the forks and bars are chromoly, took the chromoly down to metal, took the frame to it's base coat, primered everything, then paint, then a couple coats of clear. i didn't go nuts with the sanding and such as it's just going to get scratched and all, but i think it came out pretty good :) i did the bars a charcoal black metallic, the frame/forks are metallic copper, here are some camera phone pics which don't do it justice..... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220125221.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220125229.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220125236.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220125241.jpg more to come........ |

I was on the same boat last year when trying to decide what color to powdercoat a frame which did a lot of years on the Japanese kerin circuit. It was a nice candy apple red but it was chipped to hell. I figured I'd take it to the chemical stripping place and, while there, I would decide on the color. Two days later I go to pick it up. It came back chrome. Turns out a lot of these custom Japanese keirin frame builders chrome first, then paint over. No more deciding. Chrome it is.
