V1 Concealed Display Module
For those of you who have a V1, is the concealed display module worth having?

Yes, you can put it down low with the unit up high and it does not look like its on. I had it setup in my 911 and loved it, I need to set it up in my RX7 now.
Hint: telephone line works withe the plugs.

Depends. On one hand, I don't know how much concealing the V1 unit actually helps in avoiding LEO attention. After all, they're more likely to notice the fact that you're doing 20 over, as opposed to that little black box hanging from your windshield.
At the same time, it's nice to locate the visual V1 warning wherever ergonomically works for me. I can mount the concealed display module in my line of sight, as opposed to having the detector in some corner of the windshield where I have to divide my attention between the V1 and the road/bushes/rearview mirror. And in some cars, it might be a stretch between myself and wherever I've mounted the main unit. So it's not convenient to reach over to hit the silence and volume buttons while driving. In other cars (like the 911, with its close-in windshield) I keep the V1 next to my right hand, anyway, so the concealed unit display isn't really necessary. Of course, just drive within the speed limit and you won't need to spend the $440 on the V1 and concealed unit to begin with, right?

The point of the concealed display has little or nothing to do w/ LE, it's to keep from having a convoy of cars behind you all using your V-1 alerts. (At least according to the Valentine website). Get your own dang fuzz-buster, ya cheap-skates!!

Properly placed, it also blocks the view of that annoying CASIS light.

oh yes, i know that a few members of l.e. will sometimes pull over borderline speeders just because they see the light from the detector. i love the fact that my cigarette lighter is below the sight line through the rear window. not that i ever would break any posted limits.
