a site run by a guy named "Robert" who also happens to be trying to sell his book.
Oh wait, he's an architect who now does "research"!!! "Robert Felix, a former architect, became interested in the ice-age cycle back in 1991. He spent the next eight and a half years, full-time, researching and writing about the coming ice age. He then concentrated on spreading the word. Robert’s book, "Not by Fire but by Ice" has achieved international acclaim with readers around the world. Today, Felix continues his research, and is more firmly convinced than ever that the next ice age could begin any day. In fact, he believes it has already begun." Yup, that would be the authoritative source on the topic. Talk about moonbats... |
I went to the homepage, scrolled down a little of his site designed in 1994, and found this gem. Gotta love the "Staggering..." quote. Now I'm just wondering who said it. And I sure hope I don't wake up tomorrow to an ice age, I've a lot of stuff to get done! Maybe I should move to the 10th floor just in case?

Until the NOAA can tell me where a freakin HURRICANE is going to land, I am not inclined to believe somebody's predictions on global climate change.
Kinda like members of the government (both sides, no partisanship on this one) suggesting socialized medicine now when they couldn't even manage to not rape everyone out of their social security money. |
Nice job Kurt. Contest this link? It's not rocket science you know:D .
http://www.nasa.gov/worldbook/global_warming_worldbook.html "A majority of climatologists have concluded that human activities are responsible for most of the warming. Human activities contribute to global warming by enhancing Earth's natural greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect warms Earth's surface through a complex process involving sunlight, gases, and particles in the atmosphere. Gases that trap heat in the atmosphere are known as greenhouse gases." |

I didn't mention Gore, did I?
To be honest, what I'm struggling with is figuring out if you just enjoy poking people (which is evident), or if you also actually believe some of the moronic, addle-minded tripe that you post/link to. |
moronic, addle-minded tripe
Is Mule linking to Gore's propaganda again?

So you think Gore is NOT FOS?

Doesn't he sell shoes over at Macy's?

Thousand words: At 18,000ft that ice hasen't changed for eons, until recently.

Let's stay on topic in this debate and figure out what's going on in the Arctic - the latest news and the subject of the original post, ok? What's going on in the 08/11/2008 NASA images in the Arctic? Has the ice expanded since the original stories, some of which you cited, were published? Your NASA link above discusses Antarctic ice and the larger issue of alleged man-made global warming. What about the Arctic ice? Certainly there are factual surveys and imagery which most likely change from time to time; what's the latest story on Arctic ice? I really don't know anything beyond the 08/11 images, FWIW. Best, Kurt |

I am aware that the Arctic ice was melting greater than it has recently, and typically there has been a big melt of Arctic ice every summer, then there is a freeze again . . . this is a different and more acute cycle, AFAIK, than the Antarctic ice. Best, |
This is another right-wing, close our eyes, make a mountian into a mole-hill attempt.
One of their most common tricks is to examine only a tiny portion of a progressive data series, and that is what they do here. I don't know if the proponents in this thread actually fall for this garbage or if they simply enjoy trying to pull one over on others. Here is the REAL article from the real scientists who actually did the work: http://nsidc.org/news/press/2007_seaiceminimum/20071001_pressrelease.html THis graph is instructive. Note the progressive loss of ice. Of course, there is some variation in the year to year data - common in all complex natural systems. But it is a mistake to pull out a single year and broadcast that as if it were unduly significant. In this case, it is not merely a mistake -- it is simple dishonesty, brought to you by the usual politico-liars and cheats. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219029179.jpg Above someone noted that ice had recovered back to 2002 and 2005 levels in 2008 - now look at the data and you can see how much of a "recovery" that was. |
