My next car? Sad but true...I need some opinions

Newly separated, lost the BMW to the wife and selling the boat. I want a sports car back. Being a dealer I can get cars at cost so I'm back in the market. Budget is no more than $30k and I want something 2 doors and sexy. I'm keeping the truck but I want to DD the car.

Problem is all my fantasy car have issues.

1. 1999-2001 Porsche 911 - RMS and IMS issues. Big money to replace.
2. 2002 Porsche 911 - 1st year of the 3.6 and have been known to be quirky.
3. 1999-2003 Jaguar XK8- Haven't seen much problem but its a Jag. Or is it a Ford?

The Jag is really tempting for the price, around $20k. Coupe of course. I think if I bought a jag I'd still urn for a p-car.

Opinions?

Maybe think older? Something along the lines of a "cheap classic"?

Terry, sorry to hear about the recent seperation.

You really want to get a 996? 993 and 997 are MUCH nicer.

Since you're throwing Jag in the mix why not a Z3 M Coupe?

Is it going to be a DD?

Freinds don't let Friends buy Jaguars.
Besides, you'd have to buy two.

"But but but, jaguars nowadays are different" is what my older brother told me when he pulled up in his brand new Jag.
"No they aren't" I said as I pointed out that his front licence bracket had cracked and part was missing, and the rubber trim on his front bumper pad was already starting to peel off. This was after about 10 miles.

He got just over 60k miles on it before it finally broke so bad it wasn't worth fixing (transmission and a bunch of other stuff).
The car totalled itself and he still had a couple of payments left.

That was years ago and I figured he had learned his lesson but last month he told me he was buying a new range rover.

"But but but these range rovers are different" he said. "no, they aren't" I said.

I'll be starting a pool pretty soon, for $5 you get to guess how many miles it has on it when he walks away or dumps it on some other poor unsuspecting smuck.

I've had a few bimmers and they never really had that "it" factor.

Jim, being a 30 yr old single professional I think a Z3 would bring up too many sexual orientation questions. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

This is my mid-mid life crisis car so whomever said camry go kill yourself.

Classics are out, otherwise I'd buy another mid 80's 911.

I see you're in Fla. I think there was a recent lease turn in on a "creampuff" Audi A6.

The jag is hardly a sportscar. 02 carreras are still in the high 30's low 40s. So, you can't really afford that.

BMWs are depreciating rapidly lately. Look into 01-03 M5s & M3s, 01-02 M coupes. They are all in your price range.

Or, you can get a supercar. 02 Z06.

Someone already commented, but I've heard that those Jags tend to have transmission issues.

When I look at this car I do not think other team.

Did you even AX with Gulf Coast? There was a guy named Jamal with one of these there with a supercharger on it. It was insanely fast.
