Did I just break my toe?
Hit it on a small Al step ladder. Hurts a lot.

Break or dislocate or making a right turn?
|
Pull on it. Hard.
|
Time to call the Toe Truck? Just "body splint" it to the next toe, I think that's all you can do.
|
just tape it to the the next toe and tough it out until it heals. not much else you can do.

Most likely, tape it to the next toe that's about all you can do for it.
|
So how many times did you say the "F' word when it happened?
|
Man they look bad - did you hit all of them?

like Moses said, if you have the courage,
or contact Mule..he will gladly help. Like Craig said...tape it , wear comfy shoes for a few weeks. Rika |

I did this once. Hurt like hell, but healed fine. My OFFICIAL response is; Go see a doctor and let them figure it out. |
Doctor will pull on it, splint it, tape it to the next one and charge you $1000. DIY, send $500 to Moses and you'll still be ahead.:p
Moses, my cut is $250. |
Thanks Moses! and thank you all for the great advice. need to get back to work.
Step 1: Tie some cord around your desk leg, then around the toe. Must be tight! Don't pull, just kick back. 3 times and it was straight and felt great (comparatively) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219245801.jpg Step 2: wrap with some 1/2 inch Al bar stock. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219245867.jpg |
Nice work!

They are great shoes, aren't they! |
Shaun ,if you place the splint on the bottom (sole) you will be able to get some shoes on.
oh..it's going to change color...purple,blue with a tint of yellow is common. Rika |

not nuts, practical
you don't see Jack Bauer crying whenever he got dinged up a bit either, do ya... if it doesn't bleed, and still points vaguely in the same directiojn then it ain't all that big of a deal if it does bleed, paper towel and duct tape if that don't work... break out the contact cement... if you pass out from blood loss... you wouldn't have made it to the hospital anyway, and that way did not risk other people's lives from passing out while driving... res ipsa loquitur |
That's nucking futs, but what needed to be done.

I recently broke my little toe by stubbing it on something barefoot. It hurts, but the doctors and everyone else are right; there is nothing you can do but let it heal, so medical attention is a waste of $$. Toes are tough little buggers, I've broken them more times than I can count including the big ones.

Yeah, but hows that going to help his toe?! |
I broke a toe years ago, I taped it to its neighbor but it still sticks up every so slightly. My latest is a broken finger, I finally got it checked out and now after the initial appointment and Xray its in a splint. In retrospect I shouldnt have waited 2 weeks to get it checked out.

Why do I find myself liking Shaun more now?
|
i think maybe because it was a manly way to deal with the damage, and somehow you're drawn to such signals... and/or you have a toe fetish
i think you need to go out and buy a Boxster now |

Way to go Shaun! I also have been known to use the "DIY" method in when dealing with injury.
A few years ago I broke my arm, re-broke a collarbone and chipped a bone in my ankle when I missed a gear on my motocross bike just prior to hitting a small double jump in the side yard and endo-ed big time. I drove myself to the hospital (no sense making my wife sit around waiting forever in the ER) and got a cast on my arm and soft cast on my leg. I initially ended up making a crude shoe to fit over the soft cast so I would not get it dirty while working in the shop (got to have my daily dose of shop/man cave time whether injured or not), then later after removing the cast, I made myself a brace for my arm out of aircraft aluminum, padding and some velcro straps from an old pair of sandals (it was tough to make basically with one hand!) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219272988.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219273012.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219273037.jpg Just need an old used X-ray machine along with a tire mount/balance combo and I will be completely self sufficient.:D |
Christ...
I'm sending you a bottle of scotch instead of ice cream next time. |

It was a lot better than the silly little white cloth brace they gave me to wear post cast. :) |
