Yet another computer question....
I had a computer die a couple of years ago, Motherboard burned up. I pulled the hard drive and tossed it.
I also have a "retired" computer sitting around so today I decided to jump the old hard drive to a slave changed the cmos and fired it up. I am able to look around the hard drive but when I try to go to my admin documents folder it tells me I do not have access. I tried changing the folder to a sharing one and it let me into the folder but none of the sub folders. Is there a way to take the password off even though I cannot access it as a main drive, or can I?

Brilliant Mule. This has nothing to do with passwords. This is an ownership/rights issue. Right click on the top level folder -> select properties -> select the 'Security' tab. Make sure under 'Group or user names', that 'Administrator' exists and that it has 'Full Control'. If not, you will have to 'Add...' it and the user 'Everyone' as well. Make sure they both 'Full Control'. There are a few more steps if this does not clear it up. Start here though.
EDIT: Thinking about it, you'll probably have to follow this as well: Select the Advanced button on the bottom right. ![]() Look to see what users are listed. I think you will only see System. Select 'Add...' ![]() In the box type 'Everyone', select OK. ![]() Check 'Full Control' and all other boxes should become checked as well, also check 'Apply these permissions to objects...' in the lower left. Click OK. ![]() This should assign the appropriate permissions and allow you to get access to all of the files/folders.
