I have a couple of magazines that I forgot to send when I sold mine.

I like mine but I like my Baby Browning and Colt Jr. better.

Anyway, Wolff still makes spring kits for them.

Did you say that with a French accent? Numrich has only two of the parts I need. I'm looking for a junker as I need ALL the pins.

Yes, I did say that with a French accent.

Pins?

You could make the pins out of drill rod (untempered) faster, easier and cheaper than purchasing them. Even a junker would cost far more than the time and effort to make a dozen pins.

The above was said with an gunsmith accent.

You mean either "unhardened", "annealed", or "tempered".

"Untempered" implies hardened but not drawn to reduce brittleness.

No, it does not mean what you have implied.

Untempered is the same as unhardened. With drill rod you anneal it to make it untempered or unhardened. This may not be common usage for you, but it is correct.

Ok, you trust "answers.com" and I'll trust an actual metallurgy site:

TEMPERING
(Also termed 'drawing'.) A process of reheating quench-hardened or normalized steel to a temperature below the transformation range and then cooling at any rate desired. The primary purpose of tempering is to impart a degree of plasticity or toughness to the steel to alleviate the brittleness of its martensite.

I have a "clone" that looks almost identical to your pistol, with the exception of the grip safety (triple safety). Mine is a "double" safety.

Definitely a "junker"... been sitting in a cigar box forever.

Markings indicate "635 (for 6.35mm = .25 auto) 1918 Model Automatic Pistol "SELECTA" Patent No 66130"

Selecta = Spanish clone.

What is this?

You posted what tempering is. Not what untempered is.

You can trust your poor reading/research skills or you can look in a dictionary or even in a Tool and Manufacturing Engineers Handbook.

Use your own poor reading skills to find the definition of "untempered", not to mention the SELF-CONTRADICTORY usage of the word "untempered" in that book.

I've got one of the things, I guess I've forgotten it's a 'vest pocket' model.
re "I like my Baby Browning and Colt Jr. better", I don't.

Right.

Somehow you think (based on previous posts in other threads) that you are some kind of expert on gunsmithing and on firearms. Brownells lists untempered steel blanks, and you will find the term used in gunsmithing books since at least 1487 (I have a 1487 Spanish gunmakers book that uses that term), but you "know" what it means and all these others do not.

Right.

I will happily compare my gunsmithing (and machining and fabrication) skills to yours any day. So far all I see from you is a lack of skills and knowledge.

Did too.
And RP is correct.
Having done a fair amount of smithing myself.
