Do you laugh and point?

If you look at the sign in the picture with the dumazz it is for the Missouri Department Of Transportation District Offices. I don't know if that combination would be considered an oxymoron, or a paradox???

I was going to comment that (In Cali at least) handlebars above the shoulders are illegal... but of course so are straight pipes. FWIW the sport bike guys are just as bad with their "racing" exhaust and popping random wheelies... oh and how about those Mohawk helmets? :p Although these guys only represent a small percentage of the motorcycle community. |
as if the handling wasn't bad enough already, when the arms are raised over the level of the heart for an extended period, the hands go numb.
supposedly, they don't show the "deer hunter" on tv that often anymore because somebody always kills themselves playing russian roulette. the same should go for "easyriders" and apehangers. |
when this thread runs it's course, let's talk about their "skid lid" helmets...again, WTF?

Mini Apes
I know a lot of you "sport bike" riders complain about Harleys but how many of you at 74 years old can ride your bikes for 16+ hours straight and love every minute of it.
Re. Ape hangers I have a road king with 10" buckhorn mini apes that is the most comfortable you can have and I am only 5' 6" and light weight. |
At 10 inches I'd bet you still have a fair amount of control over your bike. But those extreme apes reduce the riders control to a dangerous level.
16 hours straight? yeah thats real smart. Loud pipes and mohawk helmets don't interfere with a riders handlebar input. |
i come from the old AMF harley dazes/and norton/triumph/bsa(beezer) dazes loving every minute of AMF quality control stuck on the side of the road and LUCAS quality control stuck on the side of the road.
give me my ATK 605 rotax(woods built), a BMW dual porpoise, or a KTM dual porpoise ANY DAY! i never knew you could ride a bike for so long and so comfortable until buddy bought a brand new honda 750SS(supersport) about a billion years ago. rode that damn thing from san diego to santa barbara and back along PCH and never had a oil leak...........and it amazingly never needed points/condensor or leaked gas from the carb all over yer leg. and best of all...........it continued to run like a sewing machine for about 10 more years until he got hit by an old lady broadside on pt.loma. he walked away but bike was never the same. i got better things to do with my life than be stuck on the side of the road despite harley having to buck up a few years back and learn from the japs how to build a reliable bike! triumph emerged again after taking a few courses in jap 101 quality control. about the only thing worse than being broke down on side of highway with a harley/bsa/triumph/norton.................is being broke down in da middle of BFE in baja! there is actually a company formed here in snobbsdale that responds to broken down harleys and will trailer them home for you or to a shop. since we are part of every aprils bike week at the local "LAK ME" BAR (everybody likes me), lots and lots of custom/stock harleys broken down along side of road. amazes me why anyjuan would join the "RUB-CLUB.( ie. rich urban bikers). |

I don't want to poop on anybodies parade, but if your hands are above your shoulders, or below your hips, then the bars are illegal
