LSU is closed on Tuesday!
Due to the threat posed by Tropical Storm Gustav, LSU will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center and the LSU Agricultural Center Baton Rouge offices will also be closed. AgCenter offices from other parishes should follow their own parish Office of Emergency Preparedness guidelines. LSU officials will continue to monitor the storm and a decision on whether or not the university will reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 3, will be made accordingly. The decision about Wednesday will be announced through the news media, broadcast e-mail and the LSU Web site at www.lsu.edu. All classes, public events and related activities at LSU are suspended on Tuesday and all offices and departments, except those previously designated as required for essential operations, will be closed on Tuesday. For their safety and security, faculty and staff are being asked not to report for work unless they have been previously designated as essential in emergency situations. Employees should check with their supervisors to determine if they are classified as essential personnel. Residential Life facilities, including all residence halls, campus apartments and family and graduate housing, will remain open. LSU is asking that students who remain on campus take all necessary precautions and remain indoors as the storm makes landfall. The university will offer a regular campus dining schedule on Saturday, Aug. 30, and Sunday, Aug. 31. On Monday, Sept. 1, and Tuesday, Sept. 2, the 459 Commons Dining Hall will be open for continuous service from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All other campus dining facilities will be closed on those days. Students, faculty and staff are urged to monitor local media for current information about the storm and its likely path. LSU’s Web site will be continually updated with the latest information, and LSU’s emergency hotline number, 1-800-516-6444 or 578-INFO (4636), will also be kept up-to-date.
