FK the BS
The question that comes to mind is did Paddy Chayefsky write the script for the Sarah Palin VP nomination and attending controversy. It is a ludicrous to think that it took her nomination to fire up the Republican base to rally to the cause. However after hearing her speak the refrain that comes to mind is that it is much to do about nothing. She simply hit an infield homerun with her speech.

She wrote her own speech. (I here that is unheard of for the VP)

I agree, Tabs, about the firing up part. Maybe McCain will bow out and Palin will run for Pres. That'd get my attention.

"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this any more."
Is that what you're saying, Tabs? Um, I mean, Mr. Beale?

No I am saying Paddy wrote about the news becoming Tabloid and fostering a circus like atmosphere. The only thing is he did not go far enough and include the political process itself. In which both sides are like children complaining to mother about who pushed who down the stairs. It is beginning to sound shrill.

The politics were all over it. When's the last time you've seen the movie? It's timeless. Every Xmas, I think the kiddies should be shown "Network" instead of "It's A Wonderful Life."

Earlier today, one of the R's speech writers was being interviewed --I don't remember his name ...he wrote Reagan's "tear down this wall" speech. Anyway, he was saying that Palin stepped up wanting to write her own. (apparently, the one in the can was designed for a man) He commented on how this is usually not allowed. Followed up with, 'I'm not saying her words were not reviewed..."
But, if Don sez that evil GW Bush speech witter Matt Scully came up with the difference between hockey moms and a pit bull ... lipstick. and sold the plane . . . on eBay, well then, it must be true. You can just tell because she sounded just like Bush. ![]()

the original speech was written for Joe Lieberman, because he was McCain's first choice.
Sadly, McCain failed his first test of leadership and was not allowed to chose his own VP.

Second, John never got to make a choice, it was made for him, though I suppose if you want to sugar coat, the Party giving him a sheet of paper with one name on it, with directions, "You can only pick one for VP" then yeah, John made a choice. Makes you wonder who will be running the country. The Party, or John McCain.

Joe Lieberman went to his buddy McCain and said "don't pick me." That was reported days ago.
And if McCain wanted to lose the election, he would have picked a pro-choice VP. Yea, the base gave McCain the template. Just like they'll give him the oval office if he keeps doing what he's doing. The first rule of campaigning - Win the election! You can't lead the country as a senator from AZ. You actually have to win the white house first.

So far the Party has installed Palin for McCain, smart, she'll get them in because McCain couldn't (according to rouxroux, the Media picked McCain), but they are betting she'll be too new, inexperienced and therefore weak to fight against it. Both will be puppets of the party, well, one already is. Just a matter of time.
