there are a number of great cartoons on now. South Park is brilliant. a lot of the adult swim stuff is pretty good. family guy is having a bad year, but should recover.

As far as my 4 year old son's shows, I'm a big fan of Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents. He likes to watch Family Guy when I have it on, but I never really feel quite right about it. I like the old stuff, but it's really hard to find. Damn our PC society.

I think people get waaaay too concerned about their kids TV habits. For starters, your kids shouldn't be watching that much TV anyway. My son would much rather be playing something than watching TV. My parents were very strict on my TV viewing, and I was a lot bigger SOB as a child than many of my friends. If there's not graphic violence, sex, or lots of cursing (f-bomb, etc), I have no qualms about letting my son watch. Typically unless it's R-rated, we're ok. I also have shut off a few movies if they seem too bad. Right now some of his non-cartoon favorites are Transformers, Twister, and Jurassic Park.

Contrary what we're led to believe, he's also very polite, plays well with other kids, and not at all violent. If you believe some parents, he should have killed 20 or 30 people by now.

Mine haven't gotten any kills in (yet), but done some pretty good maiming, mostly using techniques learned from Spongebob.

Ah, he must be studying the karate episodes. Good choice.

It's too bad Warner Bros. can't get it together to produce more Looney Tunes. With the correct stories, those characters could still play today.

NO! Leave them as is. If they made new ones, they'd be so politically correct, they'd ruin it.

On second thought, you're correct. But you know, that's how they made their reputation when they first started in the late 30s. They were the polar opposite to the sweetness of Disney characters. Looney Tunes, in fact, were more popular in the early 40s than Disney cartoons.

They could still do some good timely stuff....Animaniacs did pretty well for a couple of years. I remember one episode with Slappy Squirrel doing a Woodstock/"Whos On First" tribute. Watch the visuals, there's a lot of good background in there.

You're correct. They could still do some good timely stuff. And some of the best minds in animation have been working on pitching new shows with older characters, including the Looney Tunes. Where the snag is the studio execs, the lawyers, the various interest groups, etc. Everyone with an old property is, if not overly careful, horribly afraid of offending someone with the classic behavior of classic animated characters. So, in the case of Warner Bros, they'll just let the Looney Tunes fade away. Or, blasphemy them with something like this:
