It wasn’t the surge that was successful, it was a secret program.
According to this book…
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/09/09/iraq.secret/index.html?iref=mpstoryview Ignore my attention grabbing thread title, because as they state in the story, both the surge and this program were part of the picture. We may never know how much of a roll the secret program may have had. In fact, maybe it doesn’t even exist! I might just be a scare tactic! Not that that is a bad thing. Nor would a secret program to kill terrorists be a bad thing.... Discuss… |
Obvious lie! Every leftie has stated repeatedly there are no al queda in Iraq.
|
What are you talking about? I have not heard a single leftie say there are no Al Queda in Iraq. They are there now, absolutely, but they were not there before the war. Is that confusing for you?
|
Not much meat to that article other than Woodward's word and his need to sell books. If it's true, Great!
I have no use for him. |

It's only secret because Woodward calls it secret! What's the big f------ deal?

Yes, bad guys were/are targeted and how they were rolled up has been in large measure because of long endurance Unmanned Systems, small to medium large, that never blink and can't be heard. This is not a secret. UASs fly more hours than manned aircraft in Iraq and provide full motion video to those who need it. A day in the life...Woodward knows that but has to call it, "secret" even though he knows the bad guys know all about the UAVs but can't do a thing about it. The small to medium large UAVs in Iraq are like movable red light cameras. Putz. |

It was not a secret on Pelican because of Seahawk.
To the rest of the world it's news. |
no, there is more to it than what Seahawk posted.
that is just a part of the overall system |

Do a search on 'ISR Surge'. Tactics changed, the bad guys had no counter, for now. And I do know more than the Putz. Shouldn't it be that way? After all I have the right clearances and he does not. He would be in violation of the law, right? |

No scarcasim intended. |

it was not a secret because of the documentaries on history channel, discovery channel, fox, and all the stuff on youtube. look at jawa report. they routinely post kill videos from uavs. |

These facts simply are not mainstream yet. The "surge" has too much political use to be unseated by little old UAV's. |
I'm sure to the armed forces who really fight these wars (as opposed to journalists trying to make money and fame) that it is the obvious thing to do.
Find the trouble maker or leader and eliminate....move to the next one. |

Was it just the UAVs? Or was it the general use of ultra-high tech devices? I have to assume that there are some of the new microwave heat guns out there, even if they're not "official". What other fun things could we have mounted on vehicles while driving around the Wasteland, looking for people hiding in caves? Frequency weapons?

UAV's have been common public knowledge for a long time. Yes, I've read all of Woodward's book in the last 15 yrs. But Tom Clancy and even Dan Brown have written plenty about wonder weapons before they became widely known.
|
UAV's
UAV's don't capture, some can kill, but all can provide extensive surveillance. From there it's boots on the ground. By the way, the latest term (used to be RPV's) is UAS.
