I hate my "Land Line" cordless phone

Wont hold a charge, sick of buying batteries at Radio Shack.

Thanks for the input

How old is the thing? After one battery it's time to pick up a major brand like a Sony (no matter who makes it).

Dump the land line completely and just use a cell phone.

My Panasonics have worked flawlessly, now on my 3rd set. 1st set was the 31 channel or whatever, lasted 4 years or so, then had the 900mhz, that lasted a good 4 years as well and now I'm using the 3.5ghz or something like that. Holds a charge for days, great range, very ergonomic.

milt's right. Once the battery is gone, it's time for a new phone.

I cant remember, I think I have bought 3 in the last 8 years, so an educated guess is its maybe 3-4 years old. We all know us guys 50 and over think 3 years is 1 year, 6 years is 3 years ect.

Cell phones suck, from an audio quality POV.

I really like my "RCA Cordless Phone 25110RE3 With Wireless Headset"

Minkoff, I bought replacement cells for my Panasonic from this site:
http://www.all-battery.com/index.asp
They didn't stock an exact replacement, so I bought 3 cells of the correct size and removed the connector off the bad battery pack, soldered the 3 cells together with the connector.
The portable handset is on a Fax Machine, and I didn't want to replace the whole machine.

No problems with audio quality on our cell phones over the past 3-4 years. My son's never had a land line and has relied entirely on his cell phone(s) for the past 9 years. More of our friends are dumping their land lines. I don't know why you're finding them unsuitable, Milt.

The sky's the limit, any new cordless will out perform your old phone. If you want the best (I think) get something that is DECT 6.0 , several companies follow this protocol.

Cell phones have good audio? It's because you forget how clear phone calls used to be. There's a reason offices still use corded phones on the desks...you can clearly hear, all the time, every time. Even cordless phones are a bit wonky at times.

I have tried at least 7 brands in my lifetime. The best quality, clear sound, no static, long range would be.................

P A N A S O N I C

BTW, keep the landline. The phone company was right: after the Chino earthquake a few weeks ago, all (I mean ALL) cell phone services were dead; the landlines remained functional.

I will never pay for a landline for personal use (outside possibility for business usage)

+1 for panasonic cordless phones.

Another +1 for the landline too. Back in 2005 when Fla had the run of hurricanes, we noticed that our local cell tower went dead after 2 days with no power. The LL never failed and we even had DSL service.

As a disclaimer, do not keep the landline except:

1. If you do not care about a backup system to contact your love ones.
2. If you do not have family members staying at home.
3. If you do not live in an apartment where you need a landline to 'buzz in" your visitors.

1) My Cordless phone maker charges more than I paid for the phone to buy a replacement battery. So, buy your battery from: www.batterybarn.com

2) SKYPE!!!!!!!!!
