Maybe 'Dan in Pasadena' would be nice enough to take a look. I can go, but there are a few guys that are closer.

I have just about the same car, though in blue and steptronic. I'll be selling it soon.

Graig,

One of my construction proj. is in Pasadena now, and I am in and out of there a lot. I know the exact spot that pic was taken. I can go any time during the day. I just don't know what to look for in a BMW. A 930's another story.

Looks like they are located here:

PRISTINE AUTOS USA LLC
1580 E Walnut St
PASADENA, California 91106

Don't know if it is anywhere near the photo location (I'm up here in Washington State)

Sure I will be happy to its 3 mins from me. I will drive over and take a look. What am I looking for? I know nothing about BMWs or their engines. I can tell you if the body panels are straight or if its been painted over like over spray or such. Report back late tonight. Gotta take the wife and the kids out tonight.

I'd really appreciate it - !

Ideas:

Rock chips up front
'The scent' when you open the door & inside
Wear on driver's seat side bolsters (high wear area for these cars)

Not to push it, but can you take some pictures?
(Dealer only seems to answer selected questions)

I would, but I can't post it throught my computer. Its all screw up. My computer, not your car. You just want to see if its worn from everyday use and that it isn't beaten. That I can do, no problem.

Not too much you can look for on these cars that won't be obvious. Is it still under warranty? Has the "lifetime" tranny fluid been changed? Clutch? Control arm bushings? Body/paint work? Curb rash? Uneven tire wear? Strange squeaks or rattles? All electricals and switches ok? Pads, rotors, fluid?

Craig,

someone went for a test drive yesterday when I was there, so I left. I have a chance to go back this morning. The car is clean. It needs a good detail job. The interior is a little dirty or dusty but ok. The driver driver seat has a little everyday wear and tear. A little touch up should be ok. Panels are good no mismatch panels. 2 tires are new. The rear tire was low. Rear tail light has a little stress crack on it. Got to run and give you a little more details later. My kid just hit his mouth on the ground and he's bleeding.

The car drives straight as an arrow and plenty of low end grunt. Stops on a dime. I did not push the car at all but drive it like a normal person. It steering feels a little loose or should I say slow not responsive. Maybe I am too used to my 930 or the S2000. It just maybe the way BMW wanted it to feel. Smooth clutch feel with plenty of grab. Shifting is fair, again, not use to the grear box. The shifting feels more like a Japenese sedan. No interior funky smell, which is good because it hasn't been to the detail shop. The motor is clean, really pretty clean. Trunk is also clean. Doors, trunk, and hood gaps are spot on. a little of stone chip on the spoiler which is nomal. A bunch of them about 1/32". A small tiny chip on the hood. I don't know what else to tell you. But do ask him to send a pic of the tail light. More stress crack on the passanger tail lamp then the driver's. Realy no big deal. He's don't the brakes and fan belts on it I think. Starts to show me statements but I wasn't intersted. Somekind of special sports package on that car he tells me. Hope that helps. If you ned anymore, let me know. Be back in a couple of hours. Gotta check if my workmen are goofing off.

Craig, I tried to answer your last PM but your box is full.

I will go see the car later today and take pix as I said. Hopefully this will add to what look171 was able to tell you.

But I am going to a Dodgers game tonight so I will not be able to send you the pictures until either very late or tomorrow morning. I could post them here but I don't know if you want everyone sniping about "your" car so I won't do that unless I hear from you that it is okay with you.

A word of caution: on Walnut street/ave. in Pasadena almost literally every business on that street is auto related. Car washes, trasmission shops, muffler shops, every kind of foreign repair shop, and car lots. Some of those lots are cheesy, some not. Cars on these lots generally fall into two categories, a bit older so too old to be on a conventional dealer lot (this '03 may fall in that category, not a bad thing) and newer cars that are too high mileage or too marginal to make it onto a dealer lot. I only mention this to you so you know there is a chance the car will be a no go condition-wise. Talk with you later. Dan
