Rest in Peace, Rick Wright! I hope you are playing "The Great Gig in the Sky"!
I am glad I was able to see them them live. This is truly a bummer.

Just heard the news, and as a big Pink Floyd fan I'm saddened
I was fortunate to see the Divison Bell concert while still living in the UK in 1994 - still one of the best concerts I have been to, to date. RIP Richard and thanks for the music - I'll playing Dark Side tomorrow Matt

That is too bad. 65 is too young these days. On VH1s Classic Albums: Dark Side of the Moon, he sat at the keyboard and demonstrated how he conciously used a "Bill Evans chord" as a transition in "Breath"...it is a really nice chord and if you listen to the piece you can clearly hear it.
This will take up some of your time but well worth checking out if you like music Last edited by Sonic dB; 09-16-2008 at 12:55 AM.. |

Too bad. Some of those musical geniuses live pretty hard, makes 'em go early, how old are Keith and Mick?

this article seems to say that he may have been ill during the Gilmour 2006 tour???
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2008/09/16/bmgilmour116.xml The DVDs that came from that tour are worth owning. I especially loved the extra features showing the behind the scenes with Rick and the rest of the group travelling around. Im very much looking forward to next weeks CD/DVD release...the last Rick Wright performances captured live.

Never saw the full line up, but saw them during the Division Bell tour, and right around that same time, saw Roger Waters as a solo. I thought it odd that musicians would break up (presumably for "artistic reasons"), but then go on separately to perform mostly the same songs.
Too bad they could never get it all back together. |
