Prolly goona jump jobs - starting to look

Well, its getting to that point where I do not want to travel anymore or at least not as much which means I will most likely be switching gears. The problem is, I am pigeonholed here at my company - few if any options here - so it looks like I will have to bail.

My job takes me all around the country, speaking at conferences, giving seminars and training our guys on how to provide more value while closing more business. But its too much travel. I'm gone 15 days out of the month. For my next job, I will gladly go for a two or three day trip once a month but thats it.

So I'm looking at some CLO positions here in the metroplex. Let me know if you have any ideas or want a peak at my resume...

I'm looking too and have talked to a few places already. My biggest reservation is going someplace new and being the "low guy on the totem pole" in an economy that's hurtling towards recession and high unemployment. Dunno if I want to be the low guy if/when layoffs come.

Then again, I'm pretty sure I'd be the first to go at this place (simply because of salary versus my coworkers) so maybe it doesn't matter - but it's something to consider.

Best of luck to you!

Salary does not always put you at the top of the hit list.

I've worked places where I thought the same but when push came to shove they recognized why they paid me more.

When you are a Dept/Division head and your people perform you are in a good spot.

After the 3rd of layoffs in 5 years at one place I told them to get rid of me, they could keep 2-3 people for the money. Was told I was not going anywhere, without me the 2-3 they kept were useless to them.

So I immediately demanded a raise.

Lubemaster -
I just switched jobs about a month ago. Left a company that I thought I would work at for the rest of my career...

Now instead of hating ever day of my life, I get up early because I can't wait for it to get started! A new day? BRING IT!! YEAH BABY! BRING IT ALL!!

You know when it's time to go... Best of luck in your new adventure Lubemaster - whatever that may be! Hope your as happy when you switch as I have been.
