Denied Medal of Honor
http://news.yahoo.com/story//ap/20080918/ap_on_re_us/death_by_grenade_2
Can't say I agree with this decision based only on the facts I read there. After getting seriously wounded by friendly fire, this guy eats a grenade to save his fellow Marines. Must be tough to discern who deserves what in combat conditions. Having never been in combat myself, I can only try to imagine. Certainly, the Navy Cross is great honor too, but how much more can you expect a soldier to do? Either way, Sgt. Rafael Peralta was one hell of a Marine. Proud to have the likes of him on our side. |

if he grabbed the grenade, and took it
then he sure as hell deserves the highest medal they can find Those who denied it, do they have a Medal of Honor on their chest? Who cares where the bullets came from before that, dude at the grenade for his friends What more do they expect of a Marine???

The sad irony is the friends he saved possibly could have shot him prior.
Good to see others think he deserved the best also. |
