A close look into the mind of a future Darwin Award winner.

This thread has really taken off. If any of you have read the book, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, it looks like this kid needs to hear from you. If he's not a troll, he absolutely is going to die doing this.

Funny thread. The kid can't be for real. I swam in a glacial stream once. Brilliant move on my part. Everyone should try it once! Especially unprepared.

I've been watching a lot of Treadwell's shows recently. He really pulls me in two different directions. His footage is undeniably the best out there and the world should always be grateful for it. I don't even care that much that he became dinner for one of his beloved bears, though I feel sorry for his girlfriend who was dessert, since she didn't like being there very much. But Treadwell's living with those bears for 13 years only made it more likely that bears get more comfortable around humans and, in some cases, that humans think it's ok to get close to bears. I think his behavior will probably cost some bears their lives. There's a great Far Side cartoon I need to find for this thread.

Don’t want to play down anything Treadwell did because I watched his entire doc’s too.
The guy was truly amazing when it came to wilds bears; I had many pucker moments watching his documentaries.

But dam, you don’t treat a grizzly like a lap dog

My brother, self proclaimed great white hunter, explorer and wilderness expert, a legend in his own mind, took a hunting trip to Alaska many years ago. Having not ever even seen a little Louisiana black bear, much less something the size of the bears in Alaska, decides to not sleep in the cabin, and hits the trail to sleep under the stars and a blanket. good thing he's a heavy sleeper because the next morning he found these giant Grizzly tracks everywhere and all around his blanket. his first and last night sleeping alone in nature's embrace among the cute little forest creatures. I guess the bears thought anyone that farkin stupid deserves a second chance and would insist he stay for dinner if he came back the next night.
