LA/LA World Series?

Fairly good possibility? I think so

I'd be really surprised in the dodgers get past the first round of the playoffs. Or even win a playoff game for that matter.

The angels look like the team to beat to me .....

I thought the Oak/SF series in '89 was cool, at first. A great A's team lost much of the local attention to the inferior Giants. Seemed like nobody outside the Bay Area or NoCal really cared. The earthquake really made the series, an the A's championship, an afterthought.

Of course, in hindsight, it was all a big 'roid-fest.

Doubt it. I can definitely see the Angels going. The Dodgers I don't think have the depth to make it to the end of the playoffs.

I LOVE my Dodgers. I LIVE for my Dodgers. I watch EVERY game I can. I will be at the stadium tomorrow night rooting them on against the hated Giants.

Having said all that? The Dodgers, though occasionally shockingly good are not nearly steady enough to go much beyond the first round. Their starting pitcihng is a bit iffy. Lowe and Billingsley are reasonably reliable but not overpowering by any means. Kershaw is 20 years old, enough said. Maddux and Kuroda are alternately unhittable (usually when the Dodgers can't muster ANY offense) or entirely hittable. They have the core of a hugely successful young team, but so do the Rockies and the Diamondbacks and to a lesser degree so do the Giants and the Padres. The NL West will potentially be a shockingly good dvision in say '10-'11 but not now.

World Series - Angels v. Cubs? It could happen....

I love the Dodgers, but this isn't their year.
If they win the division, great! If they win a couple of playoff games, even better.
World Series against the Angels? It'll probably be da Cubs.

It could never happen, since only one team plays in LA.

LA Angels, California Angels, Anaheim Angeles, who cares, they kicked ass all season.
Injuries too. This team is pretty exciting.

Minkoff,

Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers , but for some reason the whole LA Angels of Anaheim thing rubs me the wrong way. This is coming from a guy that used to ride his bike to The Big A as a kid to watch Angel games.

For a more serious answer, yes the Angels do look like the team to beat this year. I think Boston may give them a run for their money if they meet, but don't think there is a team in the National League that will compete with the eventual AL champs.

I'd be surprised if the Dodgers make it out of the first round, and keep in mind they have to play the lowly Giants for their last series, who have owned them of late. If the Dodgers haven't clinched by the time they get to SF, and the D-Backs can keep pace, things will get interesting in the NL west.

First the Dodgers have to win their division. They better wrap it up before the final game against the Giants, because they'll probably face Cy Young (Really, who else?) winner Tim Lincecum. Not a happy prospect if you're a Dodger.

No Problema, how about "The Orange County Angels?'

Wrigley Field?

Edit: I was going to say the Coliseum, but then cheated and Googled it.

Good luck to your LA/California/Anaheim/LA Angels of Anaheim.

Timmy for Cy Young!

I faced Billingsley once in hs and walked. He had like 20 k's against us that game.

I don't think LA/LA will happen, but Chi/Chi could if the white sox get their groove back and the cubs don't choke like they normally do. I'm really looking forward to the playoffs. They should be entertaining like always.
