Tool Kit! Know the Car?
A friend of mine has this tool kit and is wondering what car it came from. Any ideas? I don't have a clue.....

Not british, those are metric tools. I am guessing it is some put together tool kit.

It looks a lot like the tool kit in my old 300D.

Looks like the pouch & wrenches that come with BMW wagons/hatchbacks.

The names stamped on the tools will reveal a lot.

The shape of the wrench jaws suggests both VW and 356 to me...

One more vote for 356 - but not a C. The C has a different roll that what is pictured... so B or A. Don't think pre-As or gmunds came with tool kits.

Looks like Mercedes to me. The lug socket is just like the ones for Unimogs, just a bit shorter.

Here are some pics of a '50s spare tire tool kit for VW, made by Hazet. This type of kit was an option. The tools in it don't look like the tools in the kit in question, but maybe the tools in the bag kit were different anyway.
BTW, my father, a VW dealer since 1955 (and still going strong), said he used to offer this option for $25. Most people said no, too much money. They sell for $1000 today. ![]() ![]()

I had a very similar set of tools for my 1970VW. I'd bet dollars to donuts that's a good place to start looking.
