Leaners, Leansters or Quasi-Trikes?

New trend or ticket to "shundom"?

I hear Harley might make one too (not the more traditional Trike they will release soon).

Why "shundom"? Makes perfect sense, physics-wise, no? MB. et al, has played with the concept:

Ghey.

DARISC 09-30-2008 12:12 AM

Are you?

BlueSkyJaunte 09-30-2008 12:28 AM

Nope.

What connection do you draw between this engineering approach and homosexuality?

BlueSkyJaunte 09-30-2008 12:38 AM

You like them.

Do you realize that most people would think that the interjection of homosexuality into a thread relating to mechanical engineering might seem indicative of a preoccupation and perhaps one's self doubt about one's own sexuality?

I don't think Kurt is interested in homosexuals, latent or otherwise, hijacking his thread.

I was told last year by someone in the business that older folks who find it difficult to ride a two-wheeler due to bad knees, hips, etc... will be buying these "trikes". Think there's any truth to that?

I think the "performance three wheeler" is in a different class than a traditional trike and they are not being marketed to the people you describe.

Here's a Brudeli again.

What about this:

And, DARISC, He called it "Ghey." Not Gay. Much different. Don't be so sensitive, sweetheart.

This was a thread about a "new trend or a ticket to 'shundom'". Not "mechanical engineering".

Unless you are a former biker who due to injury can no longer ride a two-wheeler, trikers are GHEY.

You want to talk "engineering"? Trikes have nearly all of the disadvantages of a motorcycle with none of the advantages, AND a few new cons added in for good measure:

1) Still invisible in traffic
2) Still miserably small contact patches, with the added bonus of being a statically stable format, instilling false confidence
3) Still no "occupant" protection
4) Power-to-weight ratio 1/2 that (or worse) of a bike
5) Reduced MPG due to increased coefficient of drag (and power-to-weight)
6) Larger footprint reduces maneuverability in traffic and increases required parking space
7) Even step-thru riders laugh at trikers
8) GHEY
9) DARISC likes them (but I repeat myself)

How about a 4-wheeled motorcycle? Not ghey (or gay).

what's the point of a bike if you can't lean? (referring to that ugly arse HD training wheel thing).

I apologize.

My ignorance; just looked up ghey (thought it was webspeak for gay :().

Agree with 1 thru 8.

As for 9., yeah, I think they're ghey :).

If I'm correct, trike ATV's have been replaced by 4 wheel ATV's for safety reasons, no?

Anyway - sorry.

I thoroughly enjoyed this little display of electronic webposting-fisticuffs...it could have devolved into a icky morass of name calling and parf material, but the banter retained a level of decorum and eventually concluded by DARISC diffusing the entire situation with humility and restraint...DARISC for PRESIDENT! BlueSkyJaunte for Vice-President!

Now...back on point; trikes are GHEY!

Tim Hancock 09-30-2008 09:31 AM

I think they are both gay and ghey. ;):D

BlueSkyJaunte 09-30-2008 09:37 AM

Apology accepted, DARISC.

Though I must say I'm a little disappointed. I had some truly epic rejoinders at the ready. ;)
