Home AC condenser motor repair ?

I have noticed the fan motor on the outside unit (condenser) squeaking. I assume this means I should get a new one. The job of replacing it looks super simple. A few screws for the top plate of the condenser, 4 acorn nuts to get the motor off. I'm sure something holding the blade to the motor and an electrical connection. How hard could it be?!?

I figure the cost effective repair would involve me ordering a motor online someplace and then replacing it myself.

Does anyone know of a good source for the fan motors?

Can someone tell me what the part number of my motor is out of this jumble.
I think this is it, or possibly just the big part. This is how it looks on the motor.
5KCP39JFV504 S

Then there was some other stuff that seems pretty self-explanatory

Thermally Protected
HP 1/4
V208-230
A 1.50
Hz60

Then some more randomness

CPNB13400-270
79-3
CL B INS-Con Air Over

then what I assume is a serial or build number
022979001508

Any help greatly appreciated.

I found a place online that says it has a replacement for a GE V504S for $290.
www.expertappliance.com
Is that a good price?

I want to get a fair price, and I want to get a quality part. I don't want to replace it every other year because it's cheap.

How do I know I'm getting a quality part. I'm assuming that my answer to "what's the correct part number" will confirm if they have the right replacement part.

Thanks again.

Perhaps the guy selling this motor can get you the right part. He's selling the 612 for $50.

That's a pretty amazing deal.

That is very expensive for a small single phase motor.
Use the yellow pages and find a local motor shop that will sell you new or perhaps even replace the bearings in your old motor.
That motor should be less than $100 and you will most likely need a new run capacitor with it. Never replace a motor without a new capacitor if required.

I had an AC motor pack up in my old house. I removed it and brought it into an HVAC supplier who mostly supplies contractors. I left with a new motor for less than $100 and installation took a few minutes.

Well, that's good news. $300 sounded a bit steep for a simple motor to me.

Now I just have to find a local supplier.

Try Grainger or Johnstone supply.

Yup, that's what I'd do. They'll make sure you get the right part, and you'll have it today. Look in your phone book under HVAC supply or parts.

Make sure you kill the power via the break-away box BEFORE unplugging the fan.

Right, that takes all of the excitement out of it. For added excitement, don't turn the AC off either.
