To be clear I'm not necessarily disgruntled. I mainly go on there now for the Off Topic stuff. What I can't stand though is the political and religious arguements that lead nowhere. Plus, my next Porsche is most likely going to be a late 80's Carerra and the 911 board here is second to none.

O give me a home, where the buffalo roam...

I’m not re-upping this Dec after being there 4 years for the fact.
All the 911/Turbo people are here now; several days go by at RL before a new post is made in the Turbo section. Threads in OT start off as “My neighbor is dying” and end up with a large Mexican seeing a vision of the Virgin Mary floating in the toilet  I don’t hate the place; just find no value anymore over there! |

uh...I find Pelican more 'user friendly'... posting pics on RL is one of my pet peaves (compared to Pelican). And Pelican is home, man. As a group yuze guys are cool. OT is VERY entertaining (especially compared to RL). 911 Forum is awesome. Our Regional Forum is handy and just right. And all the other Forums fill all my needs.
Cassette? What's wrong with reel to reel? Thanks Wayne. I really appreciate this place. |

It is sort of sad to see it fade away, I was one of the original founding members, put in some cash to help get it started and then was pleased to see it take off from its predecessor....and then the content became less useful to me and there were a few personalities who made things difficult every now and again.
I give huge credit to John D. for supporting it for so long, I suspect its lifetime is fairly short as the content gets hollowed out and people move on. It was a fun experiment though...but I am pretty committed to Pelican as a source right now. Dennis |

I think I have an old Atari 400 in my parents' attic somewhere that had one of those.
I remember when a 5.25" floppy disk drive for one of those suckers ran about $1,000 - and that was in 1980 dollars! |

MY parents still have the Quasar video game console that plugged into the television; they bought it in 1980! You could play a few stupid games, it was no substitute for an Atari, and my dad only bought it because he got it cheap through Detroit Edison, his employer in Michigan . It was able to process user-programmable hexi-decimal programs! Which means you could do nothing with it... [I programmed my Commodore 64 to plot a graph of a function that my teacher gave us in Algebra class in 10th grade; I wrote 100% of that program, using "peek" and "poke" commands.] I still have term papers on 5.25 floppy's in my archive; I've searched around town and NOBODY can download these to a CD for me! I know they are probably bad, 21 years in the future now, but I'd love to try to open these files up. Anyone know a company that can do this? N! |
Oh yeah...by the way, Rennlist SUCKS! John D, the owner, is a fundamentalist christian and the only reason I was banned was because I called his fundamentalist christian friend Don Watson an....
"Old Idiot" Yep... -I figure in a year or so I'll receive an email from Internet Brands inviting me back there, because they will be losing hundreds of members per day... N! |
When did Rennlist debut? I'm sure I only had a floppy then, but I didn't get on until about the same time I did here. I lasted about a year. Who can do 2 forums when the posts are similar if not crossed? In metalwork and welding there are the dominant forums and the others. But, you know, Pelican could go away. When attached to an individual and not a trust, things are vulnerable. A 914 forum went away for the most part (except some diehards keep reviving it and moving it). It was tied to an individual. (Note: I think the host here is a LOT more accountable than the 914 one. ;))

I quit recently when I kept on seeing motormeister ads pop up - Haven't been back - haven't missed it honestly.
