Thread for Disgruntled Rennlist Members.

Thought I'd create a place for RL members to vent. I'm not sure if I'll be re-uping for my membership. I paid for two years last time, not really sure when it expires. Things are very slow over there lately, and the ads. They don't bother me much, but what am I paying for? Hell, I don't even own a Porsche. And Pelican is free, right? I've bought my share of parts here as far as I recall. Plus there's BMW content here.

There are many of us.

If that other board was a boat, it'd be the Titanic.

Welcome.

I gave up when the mailing list went from "porschefans" to "rennlist"... What was that? 8 years ago? 10, maybe?

I didn't renew when my membership came up a few mos. ago. I have no problem with RL. I like it a lot and they do have the best 993 forum around. I guess I just don't need it as much, since my 993 is almost maint.-free. When it comes time to take on a big project with my 993, I'll probably head back over to RL.

I just realized I put this thread in the wrong spot. Can someone move it to the regular OT board? Another reason to like Pelican, religion and politics separate from OT.

Just a note: Please keep the "venting" on the mellow side and hopefully humorous. If it turns into a character assassination-fest it'll go away.

I never used the boards on RL, I can barely keep up with this one. The email lists are definitely not up to the old standards. I understand JD had to move on. He did an outstanding job for many years. I won't be re-upping my membership, and have actually been thinking of unsubscribing from the email, but I get them still for now. Now that the list is corporate owned, it will not be the same.

There really weren't a lot of answers to the 'what's wrong with my car' type questions I had when I owned my 924S. I got much better tech data here and at Clark's Garage. After becoming a member I still had a hard time getting responses compared to the other two boards. If I still had the car I wouldn't have renewed the membership when the time came around.

That's the real problem, a trouble-maker gets booted from rennlist and ends up here and continues to cause trouble but doesn't quite go over the line far enough to end up on the island.

right heah or did you want one of the many other randy's -- we seem to proliferate near 911s

rennlist does seem to have gotten quieter when john d sold it

since inception, pelican has had more technical stuff on it

Actually as a 997 owner (ducking) - I find rennlist excellent for all kinds of simple questions that are typically asked by owner/enthusiasts of newer, still-under-warranty Porsches. Pelican is a better resource for owners of older models that are inclined to do their own upgrades/maintenance.

So when I need to know whether aqua blue is ugly or not or whether it's cost-effective to order "Porsche crest in headrest" when placing my '09 order - Rennlist it is (well, and other more important stuff too).

Heck- Pelican groups 996s with 997s for crapsake - blasphemy!!!!

And Rennlist is so polite, even a committed crapshaker like me has a tough time getting a rise... If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all seems to be the motto. Can stand that some days, it can be a nice change from chicken and rice.

But pay for it? Never again. I like the "user" label under my Rennlist avatar. I've always wanted to be called a "user"... almost as good as being a "registered user".
