Beats 12k dial up. which is the only other option out here. Mine has been particularly slow lately.

87coupe 10-05-2008 08:17 PM

Here is a working xorg.conf file for a Parallels based Linux.

Thanks a bunch. I guess I gave up a little too soon. ;)

got started installing and it wants to connect to the internet. thats not a possibility until i can get it online wirelessly what do i do?

JavaBrewer 10-06-2008 08:16 PM

If you downloaded the full version then just skip that part and continue with the install. You can configure the wireless card later.

JavaBrewer 10-06-2008 08:18 PM

I'm sure you already did the Google thing but go to this Ubuntu wireless setup site for setup. Worked like a champ for my workstation wireless.

porsche4life 10-06-2008 08:18 PM

I downloaded this version and it only gives me the option to retry or close.

porsche4life 10-08-2008 11:47 AM

bump still stuck

87coupe 10-08-2008 02:58 PM

You don't need internet connectivity to install Ubuntu with it's default set of packages. Are you trying to customize the packages during the install? If so that causes it to attempt to look at the default repositories for any dependencies.

porsche4life 10-08-2008 03:01 PM

All i am trying to do is the install. I run the install and it says it could not connect and gives me the option to retry or close. Im not trying to do anything special

equality72521 10-08-2008 03:05 PM

Did you try selecting close? It should bypass that if you select close.

porsche4life 10-08-2008 03:07 PM

Let me give it one more try but when i did that it close the whole install last time.

porsche4life 10-08-2008 03:15 PM

Ya it cancels the install.

Boot from the CD, don't run it from within Winblows.

JavaBrewer 10-08-2008 03:55 PM

Correct. You should have the CD with the Ubuntu iso burned to it, in the CD tray, and when you reboot it should automatically launch and run Ubuntu. On the desktop are two icons. One of them is the installer. It should just talk to the CD - no internet required. WARNING - installer will format your hard drive so anything on there should be saved first.
