My incoming was like 264 and my outgoing was like 314. of course that is with the download running. my g/fs incoming is like a 31,000. of course she does live on campus at OSU its like having a T1 in your room.

got started installing and it wants to connect to the internet. thats not a possibility until i can get it online wirelessly what do i do?

If you downloaded the full version then just skip that part and continue with the install. You can configure the wireless card later.

I'm sure you already did the Google thing but go to this Ubuntu wireless setup site for setup. Worked like a champ for my workstation wireless.

You don't need internet connectivity to install Ubuntu with it's default set of packages. Are you trying to customize the packages during the install? If so that causes it to attempt to look at the default repositories for any dependencies.

All i am trying to do is the install. I run the install and it says it could not connect and gives me the option to retry or close. Im not trying to do anything special

Did you try selecting close? It should bypass that if you select close.

Boot from the CD, don't run it from within Winblows.

Correct. You should have the CD with the Ubuntu iso burned to it, in the CD tray, and when you reboot it should automatically launch and run Ubuntu. On the desktop are two icons. One of them is the installer. It should just talk to the CD - no internet required. WARNING - installer will format your hard drive so anything on there should be saved first.
