My Friday night started with a bang!

How hard is it to LOOK in your rear view mirror to see if someone is behind you???

In a parking lot she's a bit confused, starts to back up and I lay on the horn. Nope, that doesn't stop her, nor did my car, after the initial hit, she still backed up. Oh, it was dark enough for headlights, so she should have sen those too.

She'd no longer be breathing on this planet if my 911 was hit.

Had a guy pull out of a parking space in broad daylight FACING ME a couple of days ago and almost hit me. It wasn't until I laid on the horn that he realized he was heading straight towards me.

At least you will not be judged at fault. The person backing is responsible for making sure the lane is clear before backing.

At least her car had extra tape on it. I don't get how people get such tunnel vision. Sorry about your car.

Had a teeny talking on a cell backing up a few years ago into my 996 while I was in it
Horn, hand motion, nothing worked, she finally smacked it front passenger side Her father finally saved her.

Hay, maybe that will buff right out!

As for who is at fault, I should go back and see if I can get a copy of the surveillance tape for this evening. Anyway, I was doing exactly 0 MPH, so, unless there was a weird space/time continuum distortion, I don't see how I could have hit her. Why couldn't she have hit the other side that is the side that needed to be fixed.

I don't expect the tape to last through the night . I have some packing tape that closely matches the paint...

Why couldn't she have been a hot single blond? I know she wasn't single... It's a good thing her BF stayed quiet as I yelled at her.

This comes on the heels of the friggin cat that shredded my car cover last night.

As for my Toyota, I'll get it fixed on her dime, but it's my beater, so it's not the biggest deal.

Sorry to hear that slodave. At least it wasn't the P-car. Still, a hassle and time getting it sorted.....

I was walking out of the grocery store the other day, arms full of bags. Older lady in the handicapped spot was starting her SUV up, oblivious to the fact that the cart jockey had placed a line of 20ish carts behind her truck. I drop my bags (yes, actually dropped them) ran over, started pushing the line of carts out of her way, since she was oblivious of them. She starts backing up, I'm pushing carts and POUNDING on her back window, yelling for her to stop. She does not. She backs up, pushes the carts about a foot, puts it in forwards, and drives away across the yellow lines.

So, she hit the carts, would have hit me, was oblivious to it all, AND I now had a line of 20 carts slowly picking up speed down the slight slope of the parking lot, all while my bags sat there on the asphalt.

It was wonderful. I hate oblivious people.

Similar story to some of these a long time ago. Parking lot - coming straight at me. Figured they would stop..... Nice impact similar to the original picture in this thread. Turned out to be a two year old who was standing in the drivers seat and turned the ignition. Cars made today don't allow that, thank God. But the panicing mother didn't think to:
  1. Keep the kid away from the controls in the first place
  2. Pull up the parking brake
  3. Turn OFF the ignition
  4. Push the gear shift out of gear - duh!

All I could hope for was that the father gave the mom a dope slap when he came back to the car - no, he blamed me for not getting out of the way and then let me know they didn't have insurance. I let the police know that child endangerment would be a reasonable charge. Don't quite know what happened afterward......my car was driveable.

Dave:

I hope things work out for you. But, my wife was hit in our then new Audi by a lady in a BMW that was driving in reverse in the wrong direction of a parking lot. My wife was traveling at 0 mph too. The lady apologized profusely.

However, when it came time for her insurance to pay up, they said 1/2 at fault only! Since it was in a parking lot the police do not get involved. My insurance company suggested we take 1/2 the repair cost and be happy with that.

When I suggested to her insurance Co that this was a rip off, the agent replied "wouldn't you want us to represent you as aggressively if you were our client?" I was angry to say the least.

It sucked real bad!

I witnessed a lady almost back into a MB earlier today. She never looked behind her. Her passenger had the window down and I yelling to stop and she seemed oblivious as well. The driver finally heard the horn/saw the MB and stopped, but never change the look on her face.

I get to drive the 911 for a few days while the Toyota gets fixed, so it can't be all that bad .

Here's my poor car cover:

My head hurts. I wonder if the ins. co. will cover my beer and Advil for tonight?

I hope this is not the case for me. No metal body panels were hit, I think the most expensive part will be the turn signal assembly (and labor), the plastic bumper is a little rough, but I won't get a good idea of the condition until tomorrow/daylight.

What ever happens, happens. I hope the insurance issue will at least be a lesson for the girl.

Dave, you may not be off the hook just yet!

My daughter was driving the speed limit in a school zone; some darwin candidate (age bout 10 yrs old) on a
razor scooter comes out between parked cars and broadsided her car on the passenger side into the
rear door. Kid as it turned out was fine, no injuries!

Cops/Ambulance came on scene and police report place 100% blame on the kid.

Kid’s parents sue my daughters insurance for medical claims and the SOB Insurance Co
pay and place my daughter at 50% at fault.

This really upset me so I called them asking how the cops said she was not at fault but you
decide she was 50% at fault? A reasonable question!

The agent then proceeds to explain that the parents of the kid who broadsided my daughter’s car were
both unemployed and had no medical insurance and just throwing my daughter under the bus and paying
the lowlife family was the easiest way to handle this.

BTW: The insurance company was Progressive Insurance!

I cancelled her insurance with them immediately (they were probably going to do it anyway)

Yea, my daughter pays a bit more for insurance now with a different insurance company FCIC!

I'm actually not so worried about the ins. co's. I have my fair share of bad luck, but I have done pretty well with the couple of times that I have dealt with auto issues. The worst was with my e-wife rear ending someone - who at first said he was fine, then a week later had an atty and complained of back pains. Turns out he had a habit of setting people up.

I'll update on this. She has Farmer's, I have Allstate - they have been good to me. I really need to meet my agent in person one of these days . He seems very nice.

McDonalds drive thru. Guy ahead of me orders, drives forward, but forgets something and backs up into my blaring horn honking truck. How lame does someone have to be to not realize they aren't the only vehicle at a busy drive-thru?

Geez, Dave, for a second I thought that was a pic of her car, with your 911's paint color mixed in. Oh well, hope it works out ok.

One almost did. I sprayed the deterrent around my cars, then went to the park, had my little incident and came home. Half hr, later, I decide to take pix of the Toyota and what darts from under the 911.... It's all out war now! I'll rip the claws out of that little b'stard, faster that the Humane Society can say "PETA".
