I just last weekend picked up two Ithaca model 37's, a 12 and a 16. Paid $200.00 for each of them. One is a 1938 and the other is a 1951. The best pump shotgun made in my book.

I'm a member at Firing Line, so it is "free" to shoot there for me. I've been to LAX range and it is ok, but not my fav. I'm up for some range time...went last Sunday with my son. I just got another 1K rounds of 147g 9mm on my doorstep last week.

If I am in country I would be happy to join you guys. My plans are a little vague right now. But I expect to be in LA in early November.

Where is firing line? (edit- Yahooed it - I presume you ae talking HB) I have been to Insight a couple of times because my shooting buddy is in Cerritos, it is pretty nice, I didn't know they allowed shotguns.

Also who are you buying ammo from?

I'm going to be off work and in town the last week of October.

Votes for weekend or week day? Afternoon or evening? Does firing line allow shotguns?

I haven't been to the HB one - I go to Northridge and have been to Burbank as well. Insight is fine - I'm easy.

I get my ammo either from Natchezz (CCI Blazer brass) or this time my bulk was Georgia Arms canned heat.

Jeff gave some good advice about the .410.
I know I read somewhere that it was the preferred gun for home defense from security experts. Plenty of killing/stopping power at under 15 yards but not so powerful that it would penetrate sheetrock walls and still maintain killing velocity. They liked a semi-auto or pump with short barrel and pistol grips with a sling/arm lock... loaded with SS bird shot.

I keep the .410 at easy reach after reading that and thinking about my girls sleeping in the next room.
