Lambo handmade in Basement

This is pretty cool/whacky. Guy made a Lambo in his Garage after watching Cannonball Run.

The build looks pretty sharp. Much better than I expected actually.

The second shocker besides handbuilding a Countach from scratch is.... How do you get a car out of your basement when you're done building it?

Handmade Al body panels, hand made tube frame chassis, 351 engine w/500+hp and GT40 "bundle of snakes" exhaust going through ZF transaxle.

Steve's got other stuff on his mind. Check out the breast/butt threads.

At least he has his priorities right.

Hah, I thought I had seen it here, but when I saw it on the Miata board, I figured that's where I had seen it initially.

The build quality is probably a crap load better than an original Lambo. Looks fantastic.

Funny, first time I saw a real Countach was at a car show. I walked by the front and though "Man, they sure did a rough job with the fit & finish on that kit car", when I saw the interior I thought the same. It was only when I got to the back and saw the engine that I realized it was a real one.

That car is pretty amazing. People inevitably question whether or not it makes sense, saves money, to build your own car. I'm always in awe of someoen who can see a project like that through, from start to finish. Just amazing.

I get nervous and giddy when I fire up an engine I've rebuilt. Imagine how cool the first drive would be, after years of building something like that.

I don't know, Lamborghini did a pretty ggod job on the mechanical bits and body work. The only things I thought were a little crude were things like the glovebox door and things of that sort. The little stuff did improve on the later cars, as they had the time and money to work on the details. The important stuff was well sorted from day 1.

I suppose it might seem cheaper in the beginning to build your own car but I doubt it works out that way in the end. Even accounting for free labor, there are a lot of parts in a car. I would have rather restored a wrecked one.
