Check out our new retail website...

It's called Wildsville Gallery. We launched it last week, figuring it's a better way to cater to animation art collectors than wholesaling through galleries. Please tell me what you think... http://www.wildsvillegallery.com/catalog/ Thanks

Very nice layout. Simple and easy to pick out. A few of the dropdown menu's didn't but that might be my browser. Be sure to check it on several different browsers, when we launched our site we got strange results on non IE browsers. Also, PM'd you about related item...

Source? I'm not sure I follow. Do you mean the artwork or the site itself?

It's really my wife, Ruth's company. I'm just the writer on board. We also produce one-of-a-kind animation art in addition to limited editions. As well, we have original production cels actually used in cartoons. If you're a "Pinky and The Brain" or "Animaniacs" fan, we have the best collection of anyone.

Isn't Bob Clampett the name I always saw quite prominently at the end of every Beany and Cecil cartoon? Are you related? I saw Ruth Clampett, you mentioned your wife Ruth, and am now doing my best Columbo impersonation. I've bought my wife Disney cells for about 10 years in a row for Christmas or birthday. Are they appreciating? Last edited by TerryH; 10-27-2008 at 07:46 PM.. | ||

Ruth is Bob's daughter. He's undisputed royalty in vintage animation. When he was a Warner Bros. director, he created some of the best and most controversial cartoons in Looney Tunes' history. Have you ever seen "Coal Black and the Sebben Dwarves?" Oh man! Warner Bros. will never, ever, ever allow that cartoon to be played on television. But then, a lot of Looney Tunes cartoons from the 30s through 50s will never be played on television. We were lucky to see what we did on Saturday mornings - and that was the watered-down late 50s, early 60s stuff.

Thanks, guys. I really appreciate all of you checking out the site and giving me your comments. It's a labor of love, poor economy or not. Terry H: despite what people say about "Coal Black" as racist or unfairly displaying stereotypes, the cartoon was one of the first to employ all black voice and music talent. For example, Vivian Dandridge played So White, and Ruby Dandridge played Queenie, both of whom were name stars of the day. Clampett went down to the black nightclubs in South L.A. to research and recruit the musical talent. The cartoon has received praise from many personalities, including Whoopi Goldberg.

Very cool stuff... that B&W Looney Tunes portrait series is very interesting... Daffy and Bugs both "clean up well." http://www.wildsvillegallery.com/catalog/index.php/warner-bros/looney-tunes?p=2
