The New Hyundai

The New Hyundai

Taken about 7:45 AM 10/22/2008 on Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor, MI

Manufacturer plates, she pulled out in front of me after a rolling stop in a heavy pedestrian area, not a good driver.

I had to look up their logo, their cars have never been big on style.

That's their new sport sedan. If I remember correctly, it has about 300 HP, a 6-speed manual, and RWD. Should be more interesting than the old Tiburon.

Looks nice in the photos. G37 knock off.

Dad and I get coffee at Sweet Waters Cafe just around the corner from there when I am in town.

All their stuff is a rip off of something else. They also have the one that looks like a Jaguar and the new one that looks like a Benz from the front and a Bimmer from the rear.

Well the second generation Tiburon was considered a Ferrari 456 ripoff, at least they spread it around..

Hey, at least they're ripping off classy stuff. No sense in making yourself look like a Trabant or Yugo, after all.

I have seen this car in person. Looks just like the G37.

I got a ride in a new Elantra and was impressed. I think they are catching up.

My dad has a newer Sonata. The materials, fit, and finish is very Toyota-esque. He's had it for probably 3 years now and it's been 100% trouble-free. They've easily surpassed the American makers in the quality department. For the sheeple, they're good cars.

They might be rip-off's, but why not bring out something for the mass'as that look good, perform good, without spending a ton of money. It's only sheet metal on the outside and it can be formed any which way they want. They are doing something I thought Detroit should have done years ago.

If it performs like a G35 and costs $10k less, I say HOORAY!

I sat in a bunch of Hyundais at the last autoshow down here. They are shockingly well pieced together on the inside. As stated, definitely ahead of the American stuff and on par with the Japs.

The freeze/thaw cycle destroys the roads. You get huge potholes. Not a lot of money to fix them either......

It amazes me what Hyundai has done in the 22 years or so since they arrived here. The first cars that came over were absolute crap, I didn't give them much of a chance. Now, they build Toyota-like cars with 100,000 mile warranties, all in 22 short years. Pretty good for a company no one had ever heard of before 1985.

The big three, on the other hand, have been around for approx 100 years, instant brand recognition, and are begging for help. They still can't get their ***** together. Even the Japanese are worried about the Koreans now.
