Kudos to Mr. Heller for fighting for the 2nd Amendment, and to the DC Metro Police for being absolutely great to work with.

Thanks Chris. The process that DC put in place is a bit tedious to go through, but everyone I dealt with (our one and only FFL and the Metro DC Police folks) was great. Between FFL and the various DC-mandated fees, it tacked $185 to the purchase. I'm glad it's behind me.

I tried ordering ammo on-line today and, after placing my order, I received a response email saying they couldn't ship ammo to DC. WTF? Well, as it turns out, some of the Ammunition To Go folks didn't get the memo on Heller. LOL.
At the range (in VA) today, the guy behind the counter was marveling at seeing someone come in to rent a lane, bringing in their own handgun, and displaying a DC driver's license. I'm glad I made his day.
