Any Thruxton Owners?

I had been thinking about the Street Triple then moved on to thruxton.

There are a few good ones on the triumphrat board for sale.

I want to take it to the track a fair bit, so this one really appeals to me:

Any model years I should stay away from?

Thanks...Jack

I'd recommend you ride the Street Triple, Thruxton, and Speed Triple before committing to one. I have never ridden a Thruxton but sitting on one in the showroom indicated it would not be a pleasant day ride bike.

All the years from '01 through now are pretty much the same. Only change was upping the engine from 790 to 860. Doesn't matter in this case because there isn't much left stock in that Thrux. that is a whole lot of bike for $6500

I have a 2007 Bonnie.

David--I have to admit that my brain is liking the idea and look of the thrux even though some people have reported that it's uncomfortable. New bars helps, but then you sort of lose the look.

I think it's analogous to driving an SC with no a/c and a 915 to a Carerra with all the goodies. I just like the experience more.

But I will--I've been on the striple but not the thrux, yet.

Here's mine! The PO put on heli-bars that helps alot in terms of riding position. I am about 6'3" and it isn't too bad. They are a lot of fun and you will get many compliments. Every time I stop for gas at least one person comes up to talk about it.

Fantastic looking bikes. I was never into Triumph, but I saw a Thruxton on I-5, and it got me to check them out at the dealer. Nice machines.

Nice looking. Did you do the fender delete and new lights?

Update. I called the owner who sold it last month to a man in San Diego. The now-prior owner told me that because it's not a CA bike and has less than some amount of miles, he may not be able to get it registered and gave me his email.

The nice guy responded within 10 minutes that he wasn't able to register without the various mods you need and he's thinking about selling.

Doing the back and forth now.

Will let you know....Jack

J-
yes I did the fender delete and turn signals. I have them for the front too just haven't gotten around to it yet. IMHO they look much better without the fender! the more I ride it the more comfortable it gets. No problem in my back or neck it is actually my butt. I think with some more time I would be fine. Good luck. You will get more attention on it then in your Porsche.
