Favorite Brews

Lately I've been getting experimenting with a lot of higher end beers. Tried Duvel, Three Philosophers, Delirium, Brother Thelonious, Pyraat, etc... Mostly Belgian style beers. And the one that I am afraid is going to turn me into an alcoholic: La Fin Du Monde. Amazing stuff.

What do you guys drink?

thekidd 10-26-2008 12:04 PM

Cheap. actually never heard of them before. Miller Lite, Guiness, Killian's, Corona, Heineken, Rolling Rock just to name a few.

Haystack Wheat by Left Hand Brewing Company.

Young's Double Chocolate Stout
and
Guiness Extra Stout if in the bottle. It's gotta be the Extra Stout. If it's on tap, it doesn't matter

Those are my favorites.

Also, the Full Sail Wassail is quite tasty, but I think only available around Christmas.

I like that kind of beer that has an "acceptable" alcohol content.

Make it really cold, so cold that ice forms on the surface.

At that point, IMO, it's all good.

Speight's Gold Medal Ale is tasty.. and I really wish I could get it here in the states.

Not trying to start any crap but I gotta say I can't stand the term beer snob. Just because we like quality beer doesn't make anyone a snob. We like quality cars but I think we would all agree we aren't car snobs.

If this was meant to be sarcastic then ignore my comments. SmileWavy

For quantity, I've been on a Mich Amber Bock kick for a long time. Just about the only decent beer available in resturants/bars around here as well. When I go out of my way to get beer, or happen to be in the neighborhood, I've been on a Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout kick lately... Of course, I do like my Guinness (widget draft can/bottle, not the extra stout non-widget'd bottle) and Boddingtons too, but getting it is a bit out of my way, and I'd have to go to the same place that has the Smiths...

Bells Hopslam

It pours a beautiful orange-tinted gold, lightly hazy. The head is creamy, lasts forever, and laces brilliantly.

I've seen Fin du monde and will now try it--thanks for the tip. I really like Brother Theolonis for a true belgian-style beer (as opposed to what's brewed in CO.)

Tried Maredsous 8 or 10 yet?

Stone Ruination IPA....hoppyness = happyness

I get my beer from two local Seattle brewers, Pike and Hales.

"La Fin Du Monde" = 'The end of fashion'?

Translation?

EDIT: Never mind. The end of the world.

Big shout out for Little Creatures brewery in Fremantle, AU.

Don't miss this place if you are ever in the Perth area. Great place to have lunch on the harbor in Fremantle

Chimay Ale “Grand Reserve” when the market is up!
Olde English when the market is down :(

My wife just got me "Simpler Times" from Trader Joe's made in Monroe, WI, the lager is 6.2% and the pilsner is 5.5%, inexpensive and quite good.

If it isn't Coors Light, or maybe PBR...

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. It's $9 for a 4-pack, but it's worth it. As the name suggests, it's beer that has spent some time in a retired bourbon cask. Because of inconsistencies in the wood and what not, some batches are really, really good..and others, not so much.

Stella Artois is good as well.

About all I know about beer...

PS: If you're ever in Honduras, check out Salva Vida (literally, Live Saver).

If you can get to the Russian River Brewery in Santa Rosa, CA, you absolutely must have some of the Pliny the Younger - absolutely the best f***ing beer on the planet (unless you don't like hops. Then, never mind). If you can't get to the brewery, Pliny the Elder is now available in bottles at select beer emporiums that know how to handle and store great beers. I am not kidding - I have heard that Vinnie would not sell the beer to a distributor unless they would guarantee the storage and handling.
