My brother just drove the Nurburgring.

In a SAAB Aero. Slightly chipped to 290 bhp. His debut at the Ring. He has driven it hundreds of times on different x-box games and said it really helped him, as he already knew all the corners by heart. Big difference he said, was that the road is much more narrow than in the games.

Drove three laps. Best time 9.45. Not bad for a Ring novice. On the other hand he has been racing a lot in low level series in Sweden the last years.

I canīt wait to find the time to go down there with my Carrera. She would finally find herself in the right environment. Problem is, whereas my brother is a very skillful and brave driver, I am neither. I expect I will come in just short of 20 minutes..

I hope to be able to post some pics or even a video, once my brother is back from Germany.

Have your brother drive you around the 'ring in your Carrera, problem solved. You'll learn the track and it will be a hell of a lot more exciting than driving it (slowly) yourself.

Livi,
let me know when you wanna go, and i'll introduce you to the Ring with your Carrera

(that way i can drive around the darn thing myself, since it's off limits in my company lease car, and i'm in between Porsches at the moment, simply put , i'm in the desert)

Its a pretty expensive enterprise too. 22 Euro per lap. Maybe next year I should get a one year pass for 1000 Euro..

What my brother noticed is that it takes an enormous toll on brakes, tires and suspension components. Further, a good racing seat is necessary. He has driven many race tracks in Sweden, but the Ring is nothing like them. Its scary as hell. The speed is tremendous and every darn turn is blind. Its also like a roller coaster - up and down. Approaching a blind turn going 120 mph requires an extra set of shorts in the travel kit.
