Nope...my oldest sister owns a large sheep, goat and Llama farm in North Carolina (think 1500 acres). They do fine wools and make a very good living.

It can be done that way, but shouldn't...risk of infection is high.

I know more about this than I should. I helped shear many years ago and have never been back...

I've done that. But that was another time . . . best forgotten.

I watched that too. You just made me shudder here at my desk. Per the show, "the most humane and painless way to castrate sheep". WTF?!

They never interviewed the sheep.

I don't speak sheep, but they didn't sound happy.

I saw that last night and have to admit I was squirming a bit myself. What got to me the most was the fact that they were PULLED out, not snipped. The stretching a tearing that I imagined in my head made me shiver. uuuggghh....

The Sheep farmers (see my post above) don't seem as concerned with the young male sheep's having a vasectomy as much as they do nipping them in the bud(s).

I, again, have witnessed horror.

That's sounds terrible. The only thing I know about sheep has to do with tall boots and a pond.

I love that show. I did feel bad for the sheep. There has got to be a more humane way.
If you want shudders...watch the one where they replace one of the lift pumps in the San Francisco sewage treatment plant. Poor Barski! (The producer of the show and one of the part time camera guys) That poor guy gets splatted with more scheisa then anyone I know.
You have to hand it to Mike Rowe though too. He has come a long way since his beginings as an opera singer.

LOL! I forgot about my avatar.

Mike Rowe, the spokesman for Ford trucks, big strapping guy and the "Dirty job" guy, was an opera singer? I had no idea. He also seems to be the voice behind the "Deadliest Catch" series.

When Mike Rowe does the first one and then does that squimmish dance, with that EEWWWWWW face. That is the exact squirming and face I was making while I was watching.

Mike Rowe was also the host of a show on the History Channel called The Most.

This was the first Dirty Jobs episode that I couldn't finish watching... Had to FF, then FF again past the dog-food section.
