I'm not an advocate of permits, i think they are just another tax, but if you get red tagged, it could cost some $$$ to take care of
Nah, got some pig in the freezer to cover any fines.

Beats moving up to the next level on some video game or watching some new DVD. Bully for you d for teaching the kids a little DIY.

It was also a big reason I gave my wife for buying the 911. I wanted him to know how to turn a wrench - even though he'll probably not need to. With modern cars, you seldom have a reason to really get very deep in to them.

Growing up, we were always changing starters, alternators etc. And the rebuilds were such junk they got changed again. We had a Ford where I knew exactly how far to the left to turn the steering wheel so the starter would drop down through the tie-rods.

My son the aspiring rock star at the time 13 was getting way to loud playing in our house with his pals. Just so happened we had a 20x20 basketball concrete slab in the backyard 40 feet from the house. So we bought a kit. What we thought would take 2 weeks took 2 months. I'd never done anything like it in my life. We didn't do it right the first or 2nd time but by the 3rd time we got er done. That was me and 2 13 year old boys. We learned alot. Whatever you do get a nail gun. It will save all the time in the world and your thumbs. Total cost probably 3500. We insulated the heck out of it and they could crank it up usually to suit their needs. It also became a little love shack I found out on several occasions.

It is now my personal theatre. I got one of those hi-def projectors and have an 8 foot wide screen floor to ceiling. But that is another story.
