well i'm feeling a lil chunky, since turkey day is around the corner. I'm thinking better sooner then later. I have a full access to a full gym, and track. is their any personal trainers, or anyone that will have some insight..

The easiest thing to do - watch what you eat. Cut out all junk food. Count calories, you can even short change yourself on the calories for a limited period of time. Gym alone won't do it. Get the cardio going as well. No alcohol!

Don't put some much food in your pie hole.

Does that help?

I like how you start out with "the easiest thing to do".

Same boat here. I joined LA Fitness about 2 weeks ago and have been working out 5 days a week. So far, so good. I am doing a combination of weight training and cardio stuff. I downloaded a year long workout program off of Mensfitness.com, seems to be a decent program. Anyhow, at the end of the year you're supposed to look like Superman or something.

So far so good, I'm down 8 lbs so far.

Cut out the waste calories, starchy stuff, any sweets, etc. Fruits, veggies, protein and less rather than more. Don't eat after 6 or 7 at night. Exercise, moderately at first. I'm into cycling so I do Spin classes at the gym, push ups, pull ups, etc. Spinning is the hardest 45 minutes to an hour cardio workout I know of.

I've been doing weights out 3-5 days a week for the past 2 months, and on average I play 2 hours of basketball 2 days a week, and 2 hours of sand volleyball 2 days a week for the past 6 months. Then throw in the occasional bike ride.

I've been averaging -1lb per week, and I can definitely feel the difference between pizza and beer or a salad and water for dinner.

Gettin' old ain't easy.

Excellent suggestions above.

The key to reaching your goals is creating a program that is reasonable and sustainable over long periods of time, not days, weeks or months.

Any program that you don't like or dread will eventually fail, IMO.

I've lost 22lbs in 6 months by giving up red meat, alcohol and sweets. No junk food, only fruits, veggies, chicken or fish once a week. I did this for medical reasons, but the upside was that I lost weight without really trying!

Give up your day job and get a job doing manual labor. Do some weights and bicycling on the side. You can eat whatever you want, but you'll actually abhor junk food and go for good food, because your need real energy and not a quick burst. I am definitely in the best shape of my life, but I honestly haven't put much effort into it. Once you change your lifestyle, it's no longer work. Lifestyle change is key, or you'll be here again next fall.

I always find it interesting that my diet automatically improves once I start working out. Once you figure out that riding the bike for 30 minutes will burn about 200 calories, you think twice about stopping by the fast food joint for that 1200 calorie meal...

Yep, eating healthy and keeping youe weight where it should be is a "lifestyle" not a diet. It's not too hard once you get motivated.

Eat no solid food for three weeks, except cookies, and drink one cup of your own urine every day.

Hey, it worked for me.
