T & a

Tonsillectomy & Adenoids. And a Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty for good measure.
Oh yeah, and they're going to break my nose and put it back to the way it was before I broke it years ago.

I am going to have a 'little' work done to resolve my sleep apnea. I go in Monday morning, and spend Monday night in the hospital. I'm supposed to be out of work for a week, but I think I'll be working from home before too long.

I can't wait to breath again.

I had Adenoids removed long ago. Now every now and then, when I go swimming, I can suck water in my ears and down my throat :-/. Oh, and extremely cold liquids make my ears feel funny.

I had my Adenoids, Toncils, Uvala(sp), septom and a larger airway carved in my airway about 12 years ago to cure sleep apnea.
I stopped snoring because I lost 25 pounds from not being able to eat for 2 weeks.
I am at my regular weight and I still snore, wifey and I sleep in separate bedrooms.
went back to a different ears, nose and throat guy and the previous surgery was successful they recommended a mask hooked up to a compressor, no way.
Its a brutal surgery, lots of liquid vicodin

Minkoff - the CPAP mask is worth its weight in gold... and then some. Took me about 3 nights to get used to it, now when I have to sleep without it I realize just how bad off I was w/o it.

Ditto that. I'll never fly without it.

I did lose 90 lbs. in the last year to get to my fighting weight, and the docs thought I might be able to ditch the CPAP...but no such luck. No biggie though, I'm used to it anyway.

I tried so hard to use it, I ended up throwing it across the room and retreated to my own bedroom

So.. is the bouncing cpap machine for sale? I'm a hose head. Hate it, but hate not getting any restful sleep worse.

I have an extra. Resmed S8 Escape, used 1 year. Got upgraded to an auto-titrating unit. Make offer.

The UPPP really sucks. It was a nasty recovery and it actually made the apnea worse. I went from a mild to moderate. I am now dependent on the machine more than I ever was before the surgery. This seems to be a very common occurrence. I wish you the best, but I hope that your outcome is better than mine.

I had a septoplasty in August and lost 22LBS in two weeks, from not being able to eat, they gave me two weeks from work but I didn't think that was enough. Good luck.

I believe a relationship b/w obstructive sleep apnea and sudden death has been established.

The recovery was rough. The first ten days were just hell. Lots of drugs that made me dopey. Two years later, I still can't eat stuff as hot I used too. It was really something like 5 weeks before I was 100%. At 2 1/2 I was pretty functional but tired easily.

Have fun!

I had a rhinoplasty for a broken nose that healed crooked and closed on one side. I had it the day before thanksgiving. This was years ago when my kids were little. I had to lay on the couch for several days being tortured by that stupid movie called "Annie' which they watched over and over. The recovery from the nasty drugs that they knocked me out with was the worst part, well except for the snot bubbles that kept forming at the ends of the plastic tubes that were left sticking out of my nostrils.

That is funny as heck! I almost lost coffee through my newly renovated septum! The roof of my mouth is still numb from it and it feels like someone is pushing in on my nose all the time. I didn't get Vicodin but had oxycontin? is that the same?
