Headlight cover film
What brand is preferred by the Pelicans?
It seems very spendy for being just adhesive vinyl... other suggestions? Regards, JP

I don't know what brand my AMG has on it, but it's worth every penny. A weekend drive with the BMW club let to multiple chips on the windshield that I had to fix, but not a single visible chip or crack in my headlights or front end. The front end of my car looks new at 100k.

Rick --
that might be the way to go... I want to do the cut-outs anyway. Matt -- I agree it's worth it; I've put it on all the new lights I've put on the cars, but I've got a new set of euro lights (headlights and driving lights) for the iX, so I was soliciting brand opinions. I used to buy it at an auto-supply place near me on Long Island, but a survey of the local places up here resulted in nada, so I'm hitting the web and doing some research (read: asking car guys on Pelican). I know some of the stuff is 5 mil, some is as thick as 40. But $60 for 2 sheets seems spendy. I suppose a reason to go for the spendy stuff is it's available in tints, and if I wanted to yellow-film the low beams and clear-cover the high beams (which I think looks good on white e30s) a spendy film may be the better option. JP

If any of you try this on a C6 corvette, The heat from the lights will crack the lenses if you cover them with film.
The light housings run about $1175 EACH! I "protected" mine with the film. Mid America made good on the damage

Don't put non-DOT headlamps on a car registered for street use.
Use Hella Vision Plus lamps, $54 each. Spray bomb yellow for zee fransh look!

I used these guys for fog light protection on my old Mazda. Good quality and the fit was perfect. |
