I know it's been harder to find 223 bullets lately...and the price has gone through the roof...whats the deal? are they going up, via tax? has BHO said he plans to raise the tax on ammo?
I want to stock up now...where are the deals on bulk buys? Like 5k rounds at least?
Also 40, 9mm, 45 and 357 bullets in bulk?

Thanks,

Jim

Went and helped out at the gunshop yesterday... Called 15 distributors - no AKs to be had. They started selling out around 5pm on election day. Found 3 bushmaster ARs, and a couple of FALs which we ordered. Got one EA (who got bought out and became DPMS) AR15 on the shelf - A2 heavy barrel config, great condition, has a red dot sight on it - $600, suprised it hasn't sold yet. Ammo is impossible to find - 223 and 7.62x39 anyway. Still 7.62x51 available.

One customer came in and had us order him 25k rounds of 22lr, and 400 round of 243, 270 and 30-06. He thinks there will be a near 500% tax on ammo in the near future.

Not sure were you guys live, but plenty of guns and ammo in these parts. Lots of AR-15s/AKs at the shops I visited yesterday.

You're nuts for not buying in bulk. There's no downside. It's cheaper and it insures you against future price hikes. Go to ammunition to go dot com. Best prices anywhere. I always buy minimum of 1000 of anything. I think their .223 is around $228 per 1000 now.

geez, thats some good pricing there... where would recommend buying some extra magazines?

I have bought magazines recently through 44mag.com. Pretty good prices but they are running short of LR 308 and AR 15 mags.

Anyone shot Aguila ammo? I was looking at some for my .40.

The stuff is cheap......

They are going to be back ordered almost everywhere (especially the 30 rounders). Brownells has the standard 30's in stock @ $12.50/ea and the Magpul 30's (high speed low drag) for $12.97/ea. on back order. You just have to set up an account for the discount pricing.

My condo's so damn small, I damn near have to chose between food or ammo. :(

I'd like an AR-15. Hmmm.......:)

I've shot some of their 22lr and 9mm "smart rounds" which all worked fine, but personally, I prefer Sellor & Belloit, or Fiocchi for inexpensive ammo. It is not based on any "objective" testing, just my personal concerns about quality issues on things manufactured in Mexico.

I've shot a whole bunch of Sellor & Belloit's 9mm and .223 and have never had a problem. I don't own any .40s, so I have zero experience with their .40 rounds.

Used to shoot a lot of it in my CZ75 clone when I shot IPSC many moons ago. Good stuff.

Sellor & Belloit .40 works fine in my Glock, same thing with Aguila.

Thanks for the heads up on that site Rick. I just ordered a bunch of .223 and .45.

I just finished cleaning my AR15 after taking it to the range today for the 1st time since I bought it this past spring. It's been a long time since I fired one of these rifles (February '91, to be exact) and it was great! Very accurate and no recoil at all. I heard the recoil spring in the stock as my cheek was pressed to it and I made some nice, tight groups at 25 yards. East to field strip and clean, too! I'm taking it to Findlay, OH on Saturday to shoot it with Tab Tanner and we'll have fun!
